1/12 on Skybet now. Would be very surprised if he doesn't end up joining us. It would be a mess at Liverpool if he stays.

Good for us if we do.

Why should we make it easy for the seller?
But shame on Liverpool, right?

We're hardly making it difficult when we've gone from being £20m apart to £5m. Any balance of power in negotiations is seemingly not from our side.

Rather walk away then give them the £50m. If it's £45m then fine. Fuck it even £49m I'll be happy with but as long as we don't give them what they said was the lowest they would take I'll be happy.

Maybe we signed Delph for an HG spot as an alternative to getting Sterling.

That said if we go for Lacazette instead who scousers claim to be their target it would be hilarious!

They'd be stuck with an annoyed player and we'll have taken their top target.

Is losing out on a player who will improve our team worth £5 million? No it fucking isn't. I swear if Txiki fucks up this transfer trying to act billy big bollocks I will brick his windows.

Lol! Have to say even as someone pretty confident Sterling will sign, we seem to be going about this one right arse about face. The past 2 attempts at trying to prove to the world we're not a soft touch anymore lead to Real and Chelsea signing 2 players that would have improved us hugely, and since taking this stance we've not signed a single world class player of note. We've now got potentially 3 hanging in the balance - I imagine that's not easy, especially as two of the clubs we're dealing with are Liverpool and Juventus. Both Sterling and Pogba are, ideally, very long term signings. 5 million in a season? That's a lot of money. 5 million over 10? It's chump change and everyone knows it. Surely we knew Liverpool would go straight to the press kicking and screaming about still being a big club - That honor lasts the rest of the transfer window. Then Sterling starts helping us win titles whilst the dippers continue to fight Spurs for 5th place.. You kind of think we should just sacrifice the battle to win the war.

Why shame on Liverpool. They'll do whats right for them, we'll do whats right for us.

We only have three HG players as it is, we need eight don't we?

I'm not sure about this and kind of feel like we're being stubborn as them about it. Our concern shouldn't be who gets to win the PR war and who 'wins' the negotiations' and whether liverpool get to be smug about taking us for the full mark. It should be about sterling and hitting next season running. we were willing to pay whatever it took with the fernandinho and mangala transfers and you could argue that we overpaid but we got the players in and nobody cares about the fee any more. This media shootout is ugly, and we can't beat liverpool in this regard because the media is too stacked with kopites, so we want it over and done. Is 6/7 million worth an expensive asset sitting in the wind for another 2/3 weeks, taking shots from every ex pool players on the planet and missing a chunk of pre season. I don't know.

Well put. This isn't the right way to go about our business at all. As renown as Txiki is I can't help bit feel Gary Cook was infinitely better at securing big name players.

Why does someone have to be wumming?

There is plenty of contradictory information flying around.

My info is coming from both sides, so it's helpful in a way.

But both clubs have agendas of their own to fulfil.

FWIW, I believe Pollerz figure won't be far wrong when push comes to shove.
Just back to the thread after doing some work, and saw this.

I am sorry if I gave the impression anyone is wumming - this was not my intention. I just wanted to drop some levity into the thread.

For the record, I have been impressed with how you and Zim have put your reputations on the line to give us solid information about potential transfers. The information from Pollerz corroborates your information as far as I was concerned, and I am grateful for that too, especially as it came at a time when things were quiet, and anxiety on here was starting to show. Your information very firmly countermands information from others, also claiming to be ITK, stating we are no longer in the race for Pogba.

Whether or not we eventually sign Pogba will not, for me, diminish my high opinion of you, Zim or Pollerz, because you are clearly posting in good faith. I don't expect you will gloat if and when he signs, but I would not be in the least surprised to see a few "I told you so" messages arrive on here if he doesn't sign.

Why shame on Liverpool. They'll do whats right for them, we'll do whats right for us.
So what's right for them then in your opinion because you're sending out mixed signals. Hold out for £50m or sell him for less, which they seemingly won't do?

Can he leave on a Webster Ruling in 12 months time?

If he chose to do that would Liverpool lose out on tens of millions?

It may not be an option Sterling would prefer or even consider. But I wouldnt like to be the executive explaining to FSG how they lost out on £30-40m because "it doesnt happen very often".

He could well be a mainstay in our team for the next decade, yet you would walk away for £1M, what for, to save face?

Who gives a fuck about saving face? The only thing that matters is what we do on the pitch, winning titles and cups.

We need homegrown good enough to get into the team, Sterling is the best/probably only option there is.
