West Brom Vs City Post Match Thread

Top performance, although need to cut out giving away needless freekicks - it's very frustrating and, well, needless

Sterling obviously nervous but did okay. Bony did really well with limited chances but linked the play well. Everyone else solid...but...Vinny did get done a few times. Looks like he's on the up though.

As far as starts to a season go, it doesnt get much better than that.

LOVED Vinny's celebration, Yaya's effort, Bony's hold up play, Navas, and David motherfucking Silva? Kicked from pillar to post all day and still took the piss. That lad is incredible.

All round great performance.
Few areas of rustiness and room for improvement but thats to be expected at this stage.

I thought Gardener should have been sent off. Got away with a terrible challenge on Silva in the first 5 minutes and then got booked later on in the game

Was interesting to see that Vince and Mangala were obviously both under instruction to do nothing other than defend. No silly stepping up, or diving in, very composed and consequently looked much more solid.

Only got to watch the first half and listen to the second but Silva bossed it. Sounded like Sterling was trying maybe a bit too hard but other than that positives all around.

Silva excellent and the team superb, keep it up lads

Nice win!

Was a very slow game, like it was played at ¾ pace, but I watched a number of games over the weekend and only West Ham looked anything like match fit. Some teams' players couldn't keep up with the pace of the ball. It's ridiculous that everyone had a week less off-season with the late finish to last season and a week less pre-season with the earlier start to this season (Spain and Italy start on 23rd).

Everyone played well for us though, Yaya and Silva were excellent as was Berahino for them (well impressed with him!).

Lots of talk about Kompany: one bad pass and a bit of getting on the wrong side of their player in one move in the first half but I thought he was fine other than that and a good goal. Sterling was okay, his one-on-one was a poor finish but he's not great finisher (something to work on for him) but moved and passed well throughout the game.

We need more fitness, big time, but saying that all teams do!

Carragher singing our praises and giving some good examples of times Toure has won us games. Still think he needs more protection when our backs are against the wall though.

bang on correct matey, we do look a little suspect when teams have a go, West Brom had a 10 minute period early in the 2nd half, my worries here are Chelsea might have picked up on it, Chelsea would 9 times out of ten come to the Etihad for a draw and given time we would penetrate them

Bein Sports love in for City.
Meander if the whinging tits will stop going on about a poor preseaon now.

It's all about getting ready for the first three points. Arsenal won three preseason trophies then lost to West Ham. Which was more important.
