For an interview for an office job - would you wear a suit with tie, or without a tie? Top button undone, or top 2 buttons undone? Suit, or trousers with smart shirt?
you don't see anyone wearing a tie these days though...
I would always err on the side of overdressed than underdressed if you know what I mean. You are more likely to lose points at an interview for being too casual than you are for being too formal.
Besides which, if you get to an interview and the other candidates don't have ties on you can quickly whip yours off.
Definitely suit and tie.
No matter what.
And pray that you don't actually have to wear a noose round your neck once you get the job.
