De Bruyne?

I wonder how much Bayern would have to bid, £40m?

Bayern by now would have practically rolled him out in a jersey already. Had a host of players, ex players, and of course Ruminegge spouting off in the press every day about how De Bruyne deserves his chance to play for the best club in the world, but how he's still only worth a fiver because he's still got it all to prove. De Bruyne would then boot off that he's not being allowed to fulfill his dreams and Bayern would sign him for fuck all.

Possibly. But KDB isn't exactly straining at the leash to leave either is he.
He's told Wolfsburg he wants to leave, they told him to hand in a transfer request, he doesn't want to lose his loyalty bonus (which is huge), Wolfsburg have now added his loyalty bonus to his fee (hence the increase), City have told KDB his signing bonus is half and have placed a bid for the original fee plus half his signing bonus which doesn't bridge the gap fully but should be close enough to allow a deal, along with a few add ons which gets close to the £57m they want.

But as I say, Wolfsburg would rather have the player than the money.

Either way, I'd put my mortgage on this being completed before the deadline.

Would you say KDB is a better player than James Rodriguez? Real paid £63m roughly for him. If we can afford it push the boat out.

Man City table fresh £50m bid for Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne - but it's still £7m SHORT http://t.co/ZFZ3Oj76bl http://t.co/pxOU37um8C

Grrrrr

in my opinion, the hold up is now down to De Bruyne.....If he is not willing to tell Wolfsburg he wants to join us, then Wolfsburg have no reason to drop below their 57mil asking price...no expert on how these things work but I'm hoping we would have got his agent to agree to "help" push this deal before we placed this new 50mil bid?

He's told them but he won't hand in a transfer request. That is why the price has increased. They want him but know they can't really keep an unhappy player. They don't want the loyalty bonus to cost them and don't feel they should reward him for losing, that's why they are passing the cost on to City.

"Loyalty" bonuses are a pain in the arse.

I'm not privy to anything that is going on with this transfer but that makes a whole load of sense to me.

Best post of the thread so far.

What are you basing that opinion on ? Is there some information suggesting that DeBruyne has not told Wolfsburg he wants to join us ?

I hope we dont go over this figure. You could get Pedro plus a world class left back for that kind of money.
Pedro doesn't bring to the table the quality KDB does and although I'd have him over Navas, I wouldn't entertain it at the expense of KDB.
There are no WC left backs on the market so it's a moot point.

Thanks SWP....Makes alot of sense mate....lets hope deal gets done soon!;)

Think this'll be done this week. Seems like Sterling where we are now so close to the asking price both clubs will thrash it out. Could see the final fee being something like £52m with £3m add ons. All just speculation ofc.
