Refugee crisis

Ok where then??? refugee camps?

That's the usual process with refugees of any description yes. They don't get integrated straight into society and if they're allowed into the UK today they won't be living next door to you and using the NHS next week. It's a better solution than what you're getting right now, where they're coming in anyway and you have no fucking idea who they are or where in the UK they are.

Edit: and it's a lot fucking better than leaving the poor bastards to suffocate in lorries and drown in the French channel/mediterranean/aegean seas.

Truly horrific I have a child of a similar age. I would kill myself if this happened to my own son. I have always said growing up in Cheetham Hill it would not matter what ethnic background Asian, Jewish, White, Carribean, African if I saw a child in distress I would do my upmost to help them.

Yes it's a shit problem......

Exactly, the UN intervened in the Balkans in the 90s and soon put a stop to all the nonsense, all the ethnic cleansing shit virtually stopped overnight, when the UN pointed a few guns at the nutters on both sides they soon came to their senses
I was in the Balkans when this happened. Your account of this could not be further from the truth, if truth be told and it saddens me to say this we had to watch as Men, Woman and children were marched away probably to some open pit grave. We didn't have a mandate as the UN were weak and dragged their heels as genocide was being committed. I have never seen so many soldiers cry at what they were seeing and that comes from somebody who has been involved in every conflict in the past 30 years, not sure where you got that information from ???

I think the point he was making is that the pressures you see at grassroots level are the result of ideological policies enacted by our government. They are not inevitable, and all of our public services could be funded much better. Its just that for ideological reasons our government decides not to.

This is a very good point, there's plenty of money in the UK to fund the NHS, councils etc. It's just that the Government of today are choosing to spend that money on other things.

ok you take them in your house then......where are they going to go?

NO ONE IS ANSWERING THIS...that is my point ......where??????????? You going to pay????

why would I take them in my house, there are lots of empty houses for them to go in, and not sure why it would cost so much, or are these Syrian types all workshy scroungers coming here for our dole?

But ok say it will cost short term, Cameron announces today that income tax is going up a penny across the board for the rest of the year to fund 50000 migrants and allow them to settle in the UK - this such a problem

I would suggest this would be the actions of a truly great state

Yes but that's the reality right now.............just visit A and E at most hours of the day or night and see for yourself.

You cannot change the Government I'm afraid. Not for 5 years anyway.

You can pressure them into changing policies quite easily while they're in power though. Protests against backbench MPs in marginal seats will soon have the Government losing votes in the HOC.

not been said...stop making stuff up

If you want to donate something useful to refugees in Calais and Greece, there's a charity with a "wish list" on Amazon called "Help Calais and Greece".

I've just bought a couple of things via the link, and it's fine.

I have a 3 year old son, and the picture of the dead boy broke my heart. If we can stop it happening, or help those who are so desperate that they will risk their families lives, then we should.

I have just moved to the countryside and had a nasty fall out with some on here and indeed was banned for a month partly because of a thread whereby I said I had moved because my area had changed so much and become predominantly Asian and I wasn't enjoying living there as much so was labelled purely as a racist. I didn't make my point well at all and rightly came in for some stick.

I had time to think and I still feel I was within my rights to say I wanted to move and I also feel that too much immigration is impacting upon the economy of this country as well as its identity.

However seeing this tragic picture on the paper this morning shows how desperate people in other parts of the world must be. I was absolutely gutted seeing that image of the poor child and his parents must have been desperate. I have 3 kids and one lad as young as this poor boy and I cant even imagine what his Dad must be going through.

I also noticed in my seat at the Chelsea game - how many different nationalities were there and there were indeed 2 women in front of me in the full muslim head dresses - (if that is the right terminology) and my initial thought - was brilliant - how nice to see different cultures embracing City (can you have imagined that on the Kippax 30 years ago) and that we are not a racist club. I played football for 30 years at Platt Lane with guys like Gus Wilson and Ralph and the colour of there skin never entered my head - I just saw them as great lads and City fans.

I guess my point is that it is easy to label someone as right wing or racist. it is a bigger issue than that. I don't particularly want to become a minority in Manchester but then again I am so proud that my football club has been at the forefront of battling racism for so long and was delighted to see so many cultures at the game. I am trying to overcome my initial reactions of "don't let any more in" etc etc and see people as human beings irrespective of culture or colour.

We need to manage that with ensuring everyone black, white or whatever tries to integrate more in a society that works and everyone is given opportunity and plays a part.

I genuinely don't know the answer and don't think there is an easy one but just wanted to share the difficulties I as an individual have with immigration. In the short term I genuinely think we have to do more for these poor people.

Yes but the smell of curry is awful. Silage in the countryside is much better isn't it?

Agree with this 100%, especially the last line.

Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain have taken 0 refugees. 0.

The thing is, Saudi Arabia are funding ISIS, so it's not surprising they're not providing refuge to their victims. Meanwhile, we are continuing to do a great deal of business with the Saudis and refer to them as allies. One can only presume that our business interests are deemed of too high a value for us to take this up with the Saudis.

Fucking hell mate. Tha twas going on right infront of you and you were told you werent to do anything? Thats terrible

Yes it's a shit problem......

And there needs to be a solution to that problem. Right now the UK and Irish Governments are closing their eyes, sticking their fingers in their ears and singing to themselves hoping the problem will go away. It's a fucking disgrace.

That's the usual instructions given to the peace corps, I've spoken to lads who've served in the middle east who've been sent out on duty with guns loaded with blanks.

He's a fantasist who makes shit up to fit in with his Fisher Price world view and justify his abhorrent values and beliefs. Don't get me wrong, he probably believes its true once he's made it up, but it's still the work of a infantile fantasist.

I agree....but where's the money and rescources...we're fucked as it is.

Lot's of people have this fear.....It's nothing to do with what colour or language they speak...it's to do with funding and resources

Who said Saudi Arabia are funding ISIS ?? I beg to differ as the Govt. has spent many many Millions to combat the threat. That said factions within Saudi are most definitely sending funds but it isn't state sponsored.... didn't citizens of Northern Ireland fund the IRA terrorist ??
