Veganism

Can't speak for other vegans (I actually hate that word, as I hate the word 'morality' also) but for me, it's a disgusting thing of nature, nature being disgusting in and of itself, it doesn't care about anything.. beauty.. sentience.. feelings.. I think the game is fundamentally broken... but that's just me.

Mate, that is absolute insanity. You're literally hating "nature" because it doesn't conform to your strange ideas of right and wrong. You're assigning morality to a concept. Nature isn't a real thing, it doesn't have a morality and it doesn't care for anything because it doesn't exist to care for anything.

I am here aren't I? I feel things? like everyone else.. and I have to believe it is all beautiful? Cancer is fantastic? Broken bones are brilliant? Fuck that. I understand the game is ridiculous and we are trying to make it better with inoculations/medicine more comfortable living etc, But fundamentally, it is fucked.

Not tried tofu, but yeah I eat that stuff, along with lots of other things. The vegan diet isn't as limited as you think I bet. All you have to do really is understand your tastebuds mean fuck all.
Peas take a producing method. Bananas certainly do. And a bit of sea travel. Carrots the same. And your having a dig at people that eat meat and fish? Purposely produced for human consumption?

Mr Logic strikes again. Either you are being pedantic to a ridiculous degree, or you are failing to understand a simple point. It's clear that the point he is making is that it's unfortunate that there is a huge amount of pain and suffering in the natural world. I don't like that either. To describe that as 'absolute insanity' is beyond ludicrous.

I have never claimed I live completely independent. I have said I try to reduce the impact needed to sustain me. I am having a dig as you say, because it's so easy not to eat meat/eggs, drink milk. I am sure there is leather in my shoes, wool in my some of my clothes etc.. I check the labels now, but little steps help.. again if you don't believe it matters why are you engaging with me?

Saying that it's unfortunate that nature is the way it is is like saying it's unfortunate it goes dark at night. Pointless and irrelevant.

Because I believe it does matter. Why should you dictate how anyone lives? There is an existing ecosystem where cows, sheep and chicken, along with olives carrots and bananas, are farmed. Why do you think you can tell anyone what to eat?

Funnily, I managed to be in this thread without insulting people. You'll manage the same.

Who is "dictating"? I am not coming round to make sure you don't eat bacon. Do what you want, I will not/can not stop you. I think it is wrong, and tried to demonstrate it logically, which I failed in doing so, because people like the taste of pig and think it feels nothing.

It's not an insult to complain about your pedantry. It does make you come across like Mr Logic - you are being pedantic to a ridiculous degree.

Now how about addressing the content of my posts, rather than always skirting around it?

Did I ever say I think a pig, sheep, cow or chicken feels nothing when it dies? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. Will I still eat them? Yeah.

There is literally no way you could stop me eating bacon unless you knocked on like I've offered with a bag of carrots

Well, there's the difference.
You feel no emotion and guilt about the animal, Vegans do.

That's absolutely fine. Call yourself selfish and the conversation is over. People really hate admitting they're selfish, and I understand why, but it's not the end of the world. I am selfish in many many ways, as is virtually everyone. It's been a big deal in this thread I think. People are slaves to their tastebuds/convenience. It's a fact and the truth hurts etc.

You're still full of shit. Selfish I am not, and I resent you calling me that just because I eat meat. If I like to eat a beef lasagne who the fuck are you to tell me not to?

What guilt is there? These are products produced for human consumption. To cry about it is just like crying over mushrooms.

I disagree. But I think there is a difference between a cow/ sheep/ lamb etc and a mushroom.

I have said time and again, the judgement is automatic. I am not telling you not to. I am saying if you do, you are selfish..

I don't get how you can know the animals you eat are sentient and didn't want to be tortured/slaughtered and not consider yourself selfish.. What other word fits here? Is 'thoughtless' better? 'Ignorant'? you tell me.
