Have to be careful not to judge him too much on outcomes. He played a few tremendous balls yesterday and often would have had an assist or two. Seems to play at least a few of these every match which is exactly what we need

He linked up well with Silva first half. They calved open some great moves.

I think Silva was flagging a bit second half and it wasn't working as well. After that de Bruyne started to play well again like the first half

he's been pretty atrocius on the ball in the last two games. he is always trying to be the hero, trying killer balls and pot shots, a lot like gerrard used to be. if he doesn't contribute an assist or a goal in a game then he doesn't help our all round play much.

Not quite clicking, which is understandable as he is still finding his feet with his new team mates.

He was very lazy if you watch him on the lead up to Monchengladbach goal.

His work rate is excellent when he is facing the opposition goal but he's unlikely to get 'back in', so to speak, if we are being countered.

I think he and Silva are pretty similar in that regard.

There's no doubt Silva is better in the number ten role in terms of slipping in the pass.

The issue we have is that De Bruyne is only half the player he should be out on the right, whereas, Silva, is still an 8 out of ten when moved out wide?

For that reason, and because De Bruyne carries so much of a direct and personal goal threat, we might try and see how we fare with him as No.10 and Silva coming in off the line?

We would still have the age-old problem of not enough defensive protection on the flank.

As per usual, though, it can easily be solved by sorting the central midfield out once and for all.

I harbour hope that Delph will be the vital piece of the jigsaw at the expense of Yaya.

We simply don't need to rely on his creativity anymore, and as we continue to see, that only makes his selection based on him being a defensive solution, because he's trying to run a bit harder, all the more folly.

I can drive fast, it don't make me fecking Lewis Hamilton.

Give De Bruyne the responsibility his technique deserves and see how he responds?

He has been knocked from pillar to post by the likes of his former manager at Chelsea, Bayern Munich's PR team along with his former club Wolfsburg. He has been signed for a record fee along with De Bruyne having to adapt with a new set of team mates and slightly different playing style he is used to. Along with his new responsibility of him becoming a first time Dad, I am not expecting him to hit the ground running straightaway (although he has shown glimpses of what he is capable of).

agree with a lot of that, de bruyne is a talented player, but not one we needed. he unbalances the side, we have to play him or silva out wide, which will cause defensive problems. he's also not great technically, a few years ago, it seemed we were trying to become a sort of english barcelona. now watching kolarov, demichelis, fernando, sterling, de bruyne etc. its obvious that our side is many things, but technically competent is not one of them.

have to say, though, that we cannot drop yaya. ever. we don't rely on his creativity, we rely on his ability to control a game, which is matched by very few players in world football. play him in a three with other, harder working midfielders, yes, but we can't drop him.

Technically not great... Did he do something to Nasri?

60% pass completion against tottenham. for a midfielder, that is fucking atrocious. has constantly given the ball away in the last couple of games. de bruyne is a highlights player, he plays for himself. always trying the killer ball or shot. nasri is unappreciated by fans and the media, but he plays for the team. any professional would rather play with nasri than de bruyne.

I think his fellow players were not that keen on him when he ducked out of the wall that time

I may need to reevaluate my fondness for his style of football but I'd rather have a Kev in my team than nasri. Don't get me wrong nasri when he wants to be can be fantastic and a game changer ala Chelsea but constantly ahead of Kev in the team?? Not for me. The more I see of de Bruyne the more I get excited for the future
