Lots of big players get their wages increased by making out they aren't happy. Messi has been clever and is using a reason other than the club so as not to lose the fans' support. Just my two penneth.
 
why he stays at little old Barca i shall never know?

surely you would get bored of winning and scoring all the time and that warm sunny climate cant be good for you either??

And all that bloody culture, great food and being treated like a god as well. Sometimes it must be hard for him to tell if he's in Barcelona or one of the inner circles of Dante's Hell.
 
According to today's papers Messi want's 600,000 pw to play in the Premier League.
£100 mil Transfer + wages = outlay of around £50mil per season on a five year deal.
Could we afford that taking into account ffp?
 
600k per week for a player that will be 29 next summer?? no way!! fyi, shrek as a top paid footballer in the premier league is half than that.

You missed out the best part of that story. That he favours a move to Arsenal! Arsene would have a seizure at those demands.

As much as i find Ronaldo an awkward fucker he has only had two contract adjustments whilst at Real, Messi has had 4.
I know his fame and performances kinda reflected it but make no mistake Messi in these terms is not the care free do it for fun chap he is portrayed as.
Not saying there is anything bad or good about it, just something worth noting.

I just had the impression if anyone had been pushing for more cash constantly it would have been Ronaldo.
