For all you non believers out there who think that this Messi transfer will never happen, what will you do as a forfeit if we sign him.
Pay for it

I believe Barca want rid for a number of reasons: Messi wants too much, Messi is a bit of a dick and unlike Ronaldo refuses to play where he is told, Messi seems to have lost a bit of motivation, they want to build the team around Neymar and they can massively invest if they sell him. I also believe it would be the right move for Barca to sell him now. With Bale going for 90 million then I don't see Messi going for anything less than 150 million. If City want him then they could probably get him or £180 million + 500k a week wages. I personally don't think it's worth such a deal.

I guess you could raise money with for FFP by selling players.

I can't understand how anyone ever confused you for a rag

It's a no brainier at that price. The fee will pay for itself as commercial revenues go through the roof. Signing Messi would put city at the top table of world football.

For me the question is will Messi ever hit the heights he's set himself in previous seasons? It's a reasonable question, given the debate over his health and fitness, and for that reason whoever buys him for such a massive amount is taking a sizeable risk. Not that any of us can see the future, but for me I would only want Messi if he can hit his previous standards, otherwise we are getting more commercially than we are on the field, and I just don't want us signing players for the wrong reasons. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Messi isn't still a top top player, but his form recently has dropped and whether this is simply because of his recent inure remains to be seen in my opinion. Is anyone else getting the feeling that Barca may know something bigger about his general health and fitness than is being disclosed? Or am I making a conspiracy theory out of nothing?

Very valid point bugsy...him randomly vomiting everyday seems weird! Say he is healthy, I would only want him if we did not have to sell Silva, Aguero or Yaya

I presume you mean the spewing malarkey?...I would of thought that would be seriously looked at,should it ever get to the medical stage.

Getting Messi this summer would be the ideal time.

At this moment i don't think messi's head is at club level. I think he is focusing so much on the WC, that it's getting to him.
Getting Messi after the world cup could be a huge boost, as i would bet on him regaining his old form since he would want to prove doubters wrong, he can do it in england and if WC is a failure for argentina then he has even more to prove. Win win for us if we get him

We will not sign Messi.

However, if we did - even for £250m and £500k per week, it would be the best business we have ever done as a club. We would be at THE top of the tree, would easily make back all the outlay (and more) over the course of his contract (purely from increases to revenue), and would be almost instantly known worldwide, and become every players 'dream to play for' club.

I believe we are now a lot closer to the unthinkable than we were just six months ago.

An 18-month charm offensive which has his father intrigued.

Can you spill a bit more tolm?,please.
