Sven, capello and anchelloti all spring to mind as someone who could do a job for 6 months.

We've spent about 4 or 5 years waiting for pep. History shows he's prolly only gonna be here for 3 or 4 years (if he even comes). We've basically been waiting for him longer than he'll actually be here!
Would fucking either of them three to come in until summer!

And your expectations were what?

- not to beat the mediocre sides we've faced in the Capital One Cup so far
- not to qualify from the Champs League Group
- not to challenge for the League
- get knocked out of the FA Cup before it starts

Brand wise we're now the 4th biggest club at the table and have the 4/5th best squad in Europe.

Just because you have low expectations, don't mock others who want to aim higher.

My expectation is to win everything - my realisation is that isn't likely to happen. I am a grown up so understand that there are good days and there are bad days. I have been following City for long enough to know that nothing is won or lost by December ( League Cup aside ) and I understand the game enough to know you can't be knocked out of any competition before it starts - unless that forms some part of a sanction for previous rule breaking.

You completely misunderstood the tone of my post and amply demonstrate the hysterical reactions on here - we lost a game, we are not playing well, we have loads of injuries and a manager who may not be all that. However we are still in those four competitions and the season goes until may so lets see how it all pans out yeah ? I have followed the blues for over 50 years and believe me I have seen things much much worse than today - always aimed higher and always believed things would improve. I ave never run around blubbing and stamping me feat like a spoiled brat that for sure

I would take that OB1 regarding parking the bus, adore his attacking mentality but even the most gung ho have to wind it in sometimes.
A bit of shrewdness and we would be rocking this league most likely.

The most galling thing is nobody is better than us, we are our own worst enemy.
Arsenal are decimated with injuries and Utd have to rely on anti footy and bore the oppo into submission.
With Aguero out or not we should be doing better.

I would be interested to know if Pellegrini wanted Bony or if this was just a "gift" given to him from Txiki.
It is almost tangible as a fact that if Bony was any good other players would pass to him more and not hesitate and look for other options.
This has to be a factor in our stuttering season, a back up striker that does not strike is indeed a rather large issue.

We definitely have to adapt. I said in the prematch thread I'd have sacrificed sterling today(ironically he was one of our better players) and had Delph in with the two ferns. I'd also have played Clichy. It was obvious Stoke we're going to exploit our weaknesses. Any manager worth their salt should know how to set up against us when we go with a midfield two.

Yup. I probably would have started Sterling because he does put a shift in and give his full back some protection; it's Silva and KDB who are found wanting in that regard. Less of an issue if you go with Ferns and Delph. Might have been a case for leaving Bony out and playing without a striker!

A few of us have been pointing to his tactical weakness for quite a while, but the quality of the squad has kept us competitive. The more time he spends with the team the worse we get, and you get the feeling he needs his best players fit to pick up results consistently. This isn't the mark of a top manager and I won't be sad to see him go. If not Pep, then who? Fuck it, I'm going to mention Simeone again. Doing a fantastic job at Athletico with limited resources. There's no way the players would perform like that today and get away with it. Passionate, tactically astute and a track record of success. One of the most promising young managers around who's destined for the very top of the game imo.

He certainly has passion compared to our limp manager

We are the 6th best team in europe at most, and maybe not as good as Athletico neither.
Madrid, Barca, Bayer, PSG are better than us , they would obliterate us on a home & away fixture.
A depleted Juventus is still beyond our reach this season, as shown by our performances against them in the group stage.

Yet, we should be pissing this league with the squad at MP's disposal.

I didnt like his post match comments of only having 13 players to pick from given the size and quality of our academy.

Sue they may not be ready to play consistently or even win us games but they can play and to start crying about having no fit players is ridiculous given our resources and says everything about his feelings to those players.

At last a measured post.

Bayern are losing right now to Gladbach by the way

yep the Bayern Fans forums are full of fans calling for Pep to be sacked tonight and for them to appoint Ancelotti as a caretaker until the end of the season - oh no wait - they have a sense of perspective

Mate, we stand three chances of Pep resigning from Bayern and rocking up at the Etihad, slim, none and fat fucking and we might as well all accept this distinct possibility irrespective of how many of you feel toward Manuel right now.

Allegri is a good shout, but again can you really see him moving to us now? I think that when we decided to stick with Manuel in the summer, it was with a view to keeping him here for the duration of this season, if not why not just go for Klopp? All of this leads me to believe our owner and management want Pep and only Pep and are willing to stand still for a season if it means we get him in the summer.

A high risk strategy, but at least its a strategy unlike the non-strategy I witnessed at Stoke today. Unfortunately I can't see a better alternative other than sticking with Manuel until the summer. Outside of this I have no better realistic solutions to suggest.

STOP PRESS: I'd be in favour of Capello as an interim manager if he was available right now.

Exactly 0 chance it would happen mid season, who knows next season but Pellegrini tenure must be ended

And by fucking god had he better make sure that wait was worth it, or what the hell was the point? Stupidity passing on Klopp when we had the chance.

Excellent post.

They also support a team that has topped the CL group and dropped 2 points (in total!) in the league before today. I'll admit if we were 8 points clear at the top I'd cut Pellers some slack

Well said - but this is what we have become - raggish !! The general feeling is of course they would - we are City - why would they not crawl over broken glass for the chance to be treated like our bitch to be used until the end of the season and no doubt vilified on here before being cast off like an old coat as we welcome the new Messiah - I despair at how quickly success has ruined some of us.

Maybe if Bayern had been completely outplayed against Hamburg, Shalke as well as Monchengladbach and made exactly the same mistakes in all 3 games then they would.

Reminds me of the final days of keegan, Pearce, Hughes. The writing is on the wall for pellers and he knows it.

All this talk of 6 months. We have 3 football teams in the group ffs, give the next manager an 18 or 24 month contract and ship them out to Oz, US or China to take up a role for the remainder of it if we get a quality replacement at seasons end.....need a creative solution

Think we (the majority on here) all thought we were much better than we are?

Its certainly looking like that.

We need a massive overhaul of this squad over the next two seasons.

The players we keep relying on are always suspect to injury now and have been at the club for a number of years.

They are also decreasing in number as they get older.

Many of our squad are not good enough any more to be relied upon when we are missing these players.
