Everton Post Match Thread

I've never had anything against Martinez, but his comments about the penalty rubbed me up the wrong way, not like him.

Has anyone ever heard such ludicrous bullshine as Marinez came out with tonight? Roger this, Roger that, showing great maturity to make sure he was 100% certain! What utter nonsense! He knew he'd got away with that one; Stones knew he'd got away with that one, and had it been down the other end it would have been given 'cos Roger would have found himself in that mystical mindset known only to referees of being 100% certain! They insult people's intelligence when they come out with shite like that. The accent was Martinez's but the words were pure Wenger!! I've just told my REO that I hope there are five instances each half in the oppo penalty area for the rest of EFC's season. Let's see if Martinez would still be spouting shite about the referee's maturity!

I find us incredibly boring at present too. I was more entertained by Mark Kennedy and Danny Granville's overlapping play in what is now the Championship under Royle than some of our games this season. Our passing is so slow it's painful.

If United weren't utterly terrible to watch we'd be getting panned in the media for how boring we've become because only United are more boring than us in the top half.

I stated in another thread, does anyone actually look forward to going to the game. I don't for one. I said at this moment in time watching City is like going to the dentist to have a tooth filled or took out. Essential, you have to go but not an enjoyable experience.

I didn't enjoy my £42 worth of entertainment of the "City Brand" tonight thats for sure.

At that time though were never in top 4 of the Prem or in Europe or in 2 cups now we are in all four .I would rather be bored now than back in the good old days

Only saw the second half from the comfort of a bar with a hot meal in fornt of me. Looked like City were well on top, had four or five close things where a better bounce of the ball would have neant a goal.
It wasn't a penalty, get over it. That was exactly the kind of situation the rags always got the benefit of, if it was wrong when it went their way it'd have been wrong if it had gone ours. The ball was going out, Sterling had gone looking for the pen, not an honest player.

Anyway both City and Arsenal will drop points but if City put a run together they'll be ahead when the Arse come to City at the end of the season and then beating them will give City the title. Have some bloody faith.

If you dont think that was a penalty football is the wrong game for you.

Howard had a good game and we applied some pressure but we are stuttering too much instead of flowing. We keep on waiting for our season to get up and running but I am beginning to wonder if it ever will. For a manager who keeps on harking on about attacking football not to fetch Kelechi on was baffling. The ref totally bottled the penalty it was as clear as you are going to get,Stones slid in and took both of Sterlings legs and NONE of the ball,he is a fucking shitehouse! In the end it turned into a good point, still only three off the top and another ahead of Spurs but we really have to start putting a winning run together and soon!

The ball may have been going out, but it was live at the time Sterling was fouled. - The defender slid in and took Sterling but not the ball therefore it was a penalty. And if you don't think the position of the ball at the time of impact is relevant then you know fuck all about the laws of the game.
Aye, you're right = by the strict laws of the game it was a foul therefore a pen., but there's the spirit of the game too and because he went looking for it I'm not sorry it wasn't given. Excuse me for being so Corinthian, there's still a few of us left.

Spending the money we have does not give us the right to win, it gives us the right to compete. We are competing in every competition and that's good. Tonight was cold, damp and boring for long periods. The journey down the M56 was an absolute bloody nightmare. Still, as Senor Pelligrini says, "if you can't win don't lose" and over the years we have lost so many matches like that. Not great, but still in the mix.

Objectivity and reason have abandoned this place long ago @Rodney i fear your words will not be heard but they should.
Not great but not terrible, just par for the course this season imo really.

Sorry to say but it seems you never have played the game. Otherwise you would know that Sterling easily would have kept the ball on the line with his left foot. Stones simply was too late and took a slide. Like the Sheffield player against Rooney last Sat in the 92nd minute. It didn't end up 0-0 by the way.

I thought we were piss first half but I thought we were pretty good 2nd half & unlucky not to win even before the pen, which was beyond a fucking joke.

Some of our defending first half was beyond a joke but I thought 2nd half was the best Otamendi has played for us & he showed signs that he might be coming to terms with the Prem. Demi was comical 1st half but he too looked a bit more like his old self 2nd half. He is really on the limit though.

We pushed right up a bit Pep style 2nd half & Everton struggled to cope. But as a team, we are disfunctional. Even when dominating completely, there were so many poor decisions & missed opportunities for runs passes etc. Where I'm sat, I can see what Navas & DeBruyne were looking at when they got the ball 2nd half & basically it's 10 Everton shirts. There is nobody to pass to, at all. They can't cross in the air so they have to try & push it through playrrs legs, but Aguero is nowhere to be seen in that area anyway & he is the only bloke in there.

Sagna put in a beauty of a cross, head height & an Everton pkayer headed it over the bar with no City player anywhere to be seen. It would have been food & drink for the Goat, a simple goal. A typical Championship team would score it 9 times out of 10. We had nobody there.

Even during what I thought was a good 2nd half, there were so many things wrong, we are nowhere near what we could be. Not even 50%.

Your first and last sentences sum up the night for me.
