Everton Post Match Thread

Forget blaming the ref. The refs get things wrong Week in week out that's life.
We have enough talent in our team that the odd dodgy decision shouldn't be relevant. However pellegrini has somehow managed to take all the belief and energy from our players in his rigid belief that his way is the right way.
No one will ever persuade me that such a talented bunch of players could systematically all play so poorly at the same time week in week out if they weren't following orders from a guy who has totally lost the plot in knowing how to get the best out of our team

As far as the pens go, I think the refs have pegged Kun and Sterling as divers. And to be fair they have both been guilty of taking a dive once or twice. The Aguero one was a foul, but he was outside of the box. The Sterling one... Well that was a clear penalty in my opinion. I think he didn't give it because the ball was heading out. Regardless, it should have been a PK.

As for the match itself, we played decent but didn't take our opportunities. Howard was excellent. Their back 4 was excellent. Barry must have blocked at least 4-5 shots.

(Liverpool just scored, HE'LL YEAHHH!!! Looks like we won't fall further behind Arsenal)

The thing that gets me is the inability to find anyone in the middle with a cross. With the exception of Kolarov and one or two crosses that Sagna/KDB have put in this season we are TERRIBLE at crossing the ball. It probably doesn't help that Kun is short, but still. In a match like that with Everton playing 9/10 men behind the ball we needed effective crossing and needed to be able to pick someone out. Didn't happen.

Again credit to Everton, specifically Howard, Barry and the back 4. Oh and of course, fuck the ref!!!

Not having that, Sergio is known for staying on his feet, that pen not given on Sterling was absolutely nailed on, how can it be a dive when Stones just bundles him into the pitch? Anyone who thinks we are playing on a level field is kidding themselves.

penalty aside everyone....we are struggling to break teams down at the moment. Look back at how everton have set up in the last 2 games, when we have the ball we allow them to get a minimum of 9 players back behind the ball, and we would have to work wonders to try and break that down because we are going forward to slow.

I'm not sure we could have done much more second half. Never been one to get agitated by the media, but I do find us getting judged more and more by different rules to everyone else - the BBC feed commented that we hadn't really done enough to win the game, blimey what more do we have to do? Apparently 22 attempts against 7, oppositions goalie gets man of the match and a clear penalty denial doesn't constitute 'doing enough to win a game'. Jeeez, we must have won most games by pure luck alone for the last 5 years.

Ye that's a pen but I guess Sterlings reputation precedes him as he fell exactly the same as his usual dives.
