Rate our summer 2015 transfers out of 10

Perhaps I'm bias, I'm not sure. I've been a fan of the lad since his time at Liverpool. I can understand why fans get annoyed at times but I also think he's showing signs of improvement. If he continues his development then he'll be fantastic for us. What would really help him is having an actual manager at the club, that's what we're missing right now. A lot of our players are looking bang average at the moment.
Very true.

I actually think they've stopped playing for him. I have done since around November. They've had enough of him and his lack of preparation.

3.5/10.. You're too fucking stupid to be allowed near a computer.

Morning Raheem.

You seem to take these things to heart. You (and many others) see a player in him. Myself (and many others) don't. Why's that so difficult to grasp?

- Delph - Good midfield alternative, covers the most ground when he plays, consistently solid performer - 8/10

-Otamendi
- Awesome defender but these WTF are you doing moments are worryingly regular, though our defense would be even worse without him in it. 6.5/10

- De Bruyne
- Has 11 goals of which 1 was "important"(sevilla) the rest have come in routs or losses. goes missing for large parts of games. Not yet convinced me that he's not a fair weather player. 5/10

- Sterling
- Inconsistent but has been our best player in Europe. Needs to start playing his own game (taking people on, create more chances etc), rather than just holding the ball up waiting for Kolarov to run past. 6/10

Morning. I dont take it to heart, I just know not to talk football from now on with those stupid enough to think he's not a player and only justifies a 3.5 out of 10 when he's already been picked in the team of the champions league group and had more good games than bad.
I'd wipe the shit out of your eyes if I were you.

It's difficult to grasp because the rating is far to harsh on a developing player. If he was mid 20's fair play but he's 21.
You like others are getting caught up in how much we paid for him, which isn't down to the player.

The thread is about our transfer business as a club which definitely should take into account the transfer fees. I.e. if Sterling was a 10m signing, then the rating would be higher, all be it not by much.

More good games than bad is also your opinion. I can think of two since December (Gladbach and Sunderland). Certainly has the odd strong performance, but a clear majority have been weak, imo.

Anyway, there's a Sterling thread for that debate so I'll leave it here.

Based on a six being average

Otamendi -6
Delph - 6.5
De Bruyne -7
sterling - 6.5

Not too disappointed by any of them (although Otamendi has his moments) not blown away by any of them either.

I thought we were buying a complete player in DB and he hasn't done enough away from home to justify that. Looks good at home though mostly.

Sterling has had some good games but clearly has much to develop. Wouldn't rule him out yet though as the natural talent is there.

Overall our signings in the last 3/4 seasons have been average.

I'm sure you won't leave it long.

Otamendi - for anyone to describe him as an 'awesome defender'' is just plain embarrassing. What some people have been watching I don't know but he has most certainly not been awesome.

Both have won us matches. How about we wait until we get a manager with an actual brain before you write them off huh?

I didn't write them off, I am just disappointed because I expected more from them.

I appreciate KDB against Sevilla, and Sterling goals that helped us to top the group but that is not enough.

Well I'm not embarrassed. Last season he was the best defender in La Liga. This season he's made the most tackles, the most clearances and the most interceptions of all our defenders.. He doesn't get injured and the amount of times he has had to cover for Mangala or Demichelis is ridiculous. He hasn't been awesome for us(thought my rating reflected that?), but given he's new to the league, team, language etc, and playing alongside a new partner every week, who would look good?

The actual embarrassment here is that you obviously only judge him on his bad moments, rather than his whole contribution.

Sterling and KDB are great buys and will be some of the world elite in their positions.

Delph is pretty good and getting increasingly up to speed, should be noted anyone would look like shit next to Yaya with his recent form.

Ota, i have hope for. Demi looked horrific for most his first season then it started to all click and he was by far our best defender last year, hoping Ota is the same but right now he's underwhelming.

Otamendi-5...needs someone decent to partner him in defence as he seems in panic mode most of the time with MDM and Mangala
Sterling-7...needs to run at defenders more and work on his first touch
Delph-7...brings great energy to the team
De Bruyne-6...great at home but terrible on the road

I think judging by his marks on here, many other people fail to class him as 'awesome'. That is far too strong a word to describe his performances thus far.

Otamendi 7

Sterling 6

De Bruyne 5 although some of that's down to our poor manager .

Delph 7

Delph - 6.5 (his lack of minutes due to injury keep it lower though I like him and expect him to be a 7+ by the end of the season)

Otomendi - 7 showed enough so far for me to think he'll be a good solid signing.

KDB - 7.5 been exceptional at times but struggled at others. I've no concerns about him going forward though, the boy is class.

Sterling - 7 harshly judged by some who don't know their arses from their elbow. Raw with room for improvement but we're gonna look back at this signing as a great bit of business.
