Do you remember when we the Etihad used to be a fortress and we'd rarely get beat and score 2 or more.

Now teams have come without fear because they know we'll give them enough space to run and pass with the ball.

That was when we had a manager who understood that successful football teams are built on being solid as fuck and an absolute **** to beat.

this all day long. Pellegrini has us position and play like a pressing team only without the actual pressing. We commit everyone forward and play a high line to press and force a turn over high up the pitch only we don't press and a simple 1-2 or ball over the top completely exposed us and leaves the two cbs isolated. Now put a 35 yr old demichelis there and tell ottamendi and the midfielders to dive in to every tackle and we get what happened today.

Shameful management.

Yes but he won the double in his first season you know, since then the whole fucking team has gone backwards despite spending over £150 million .

He's fucking clueless , its Groundhog Day with this guy, he's so fucking predictable it's actually laughable to be honest, the only thing keeping fans sane is the fact he's fucking off come June.

The powers that be have to take the blame also, they appointed him and recruited the players. It's been 18 months of absolute dross.

Couldn't agree more.

I am all for giving signing's time but there comes a point in time when you have to adapt if that's the right word or at least make your presence felt and most of ours are doing neither.

We need to manage of our players fitness regimes much better than we have , we need to be far more astute in the transfer market and we need to up the anti on developing youth.

To many of our performances are lack lustre and the fact its allowed to continue reflects poorly on us from everybody at the top down.

I agree and he is now saying he will play yougsters against Chelsea. They will probably do better than the so called seniors but surely he can't be thinking we will win the Champs League? We are better getting out of it before we get totally embarrased by Barcelona or Bayern. We have more chance of winning the FA Cup so he should play the strongest team possible against Chelsea and if the poor dears are too tired to play against Kiev play the yougsters there.
Yep fuck that if Liverpool and Leicster embarrassed us the way they have Bayern or Barca could realistically hit double figures over two legs.

I don't disagree but we play a very high line which means any quick player getting in behind us will leave our defence for dead.
My point about doing what Leicester do is that with a slow defence we should sit deeper and allow teams to come onto us - then do what Leicester do, and break with devastating pace - via Sterling and Navas whose biggest assets are pace.
I'm not saying it's a tactic we should employ for every game (as Leicester do), but it's one that need to adopt sometimes and to add to our game. We appear to have only one way of playing and it's very predictable. Too many times we've found ourselves struggling to break down a 10 man defence and if we get caught on the break we're prone to conceding.
As much as it pains me to say it, today we needed 'not to lose' more than we needed a win and we knew we'd be playing a team with a counter attacking game plan. If ever there was a game when we needed to sit deeper and play them at their own game, it was today. Instead, we handed it to them on a plate by giving them a tonne of room behind a slow defence.

Pelli also said ' we must keep on fighting'.

Keep on fighting?

Start fighting would be more fucking like it. Fucking out classed in every way today. If I was in charge, I'd fine the lazy bastards a weeks wages. They'd be in training tomorrow at 8 am, and I'd apologise to the club for smashing up the changing room at full time.

He appears to have no pride to be honest,if he did he would fucking shake it up starting from now, too much to late again with him, everything has been said about this guy 18 months ago and we are still no further toward on the pitch. Get some fire in your belly you boring twat.

Here's my musings from the Pre-match thread:

"This fixture is absolutely tailor made to Leicester's strengths.

Hit the opposition at speed on the break or with balls over the top for pace to run onto.

2 things we don't handle at all well.

Vardy will be as excited as fuck at the thought of old man Demichelis trying to track him.

It's imperative we don't have one of our 'we'll only start playing in the 70th minute' games and are on these cunts from the first kick.

It's also imperative we take our chances and we don't fuck about trying to walk it over the goal line.

'Must not lose' game."

Was so blatantly obvious how this game was going to pan out. Even down to the shit start (in both halves I might add).

This is a manager who does absolutely fuck all to coach his players or to negate the opposition. I've said this countless times but it genuinely feels to me like he doesn't even know who we're playing against most of the time and he just sends 11 blokes out and says 'crack on lads'. He has absolutely zero grasp of how to nullify the other team. Zero.

The coaching is that poor we can't even defend simple corners properly and we don't even look like we know what to do when we get a throw in ffs.

Further, how the fuck is Toure captain when he cant even complete 60 minutes due to being so old and past it
Shit of the very highest order.
He continues to set us up perfectly for the opposition. Is there something he knows that we're all missing? Surely he can't be that inept?

Wouldn't bother apologising has the club seem to be going round with their eyes shut and wouldn't notice a thing until we get our brand new badge and brand new manager

I'm not sure Pellegrini had that many options.

You concede a goal from a set-piece in 2 minutes you chase the game, and we had a much weakened team out there.

He has to stop playing Toure, that's about the only major thing I can criticise Pellegrini for today. We really missed the width we get from De Bruyne and Navas and instead nearly all our attacks came from Sterling and Kolarov down the left hand side and they didn't provide much danger

There is no fear for the players. They show up or don't show up,

Oh he is that inept.

How about playing a LB with pace who can defend

As bad as it was today, the injuries have wrecked our season. Players that are fit are left to play when otherwise they'd be rotated. Team looks jaded and it will get worse with only Kompany anywhere near a return.

The guy behind me declared that "Leicester were fighting for their lives". I understood why he said it, but it was clearly wrong, they weren't 'fighting for their lives' they were simply displaying the level of commitment, passion and team spirit that any fan of any team has a right to expect. It just looked that way because our players played without any passion, any commitment or any team spirit, which for a group of professionals competing for four trophies is worrying. Yaya is now the guy you bring on, not the guy you take off, why Delph came off for Fernando and not Yaya is beyond me. Kolorov had a stinker albeit he wasn't alone in that, we all know we're struggling at centre back so sacrifices have to be made to protect them in matches like this. Manuel has some serious work to do to lift this team before Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and Kiev.
I thought Kolarov was one of our better players. The whole team played badly. Aguero and Hart did OK. Maybe Otamendi too

Kompany should make a big difference. The one I am worrying about is Silva. Looked like he was struggling with his ankle. Without De Bruyne and Nasri, we really need Silva. We've got Fernandinho, Delph and Fernando who are solid enough but we need Silva's guile

You can moan all you want about Pellegrini but those players out there were a disgrace and were not prepared to put the work in necessary to go toe to toe with Leicester. My only gripe with Pellergrini is that he persists in playing Yaya when its clear he's past it not only that he makes him captain.

Completely agree. Some clearly know they wont be here next season.

Anyone else really impressed with Kante today? Impressed me every time I have seen Leicester play this season but looked even better watching him in the flesh.Top player!
