Fernandinho - An upgraded Milner?

First of all I have to say that I rate Milner very highly and thought he was a top class PL player. With "upgraded Milner" I mean that Fern is also a very versaitle player who can play in many different positions, always performing good and never complains.

And why I say "upgrade" is because Fernandinho seems to fill a role many didn't believe or expected he could/would fill when Milner left.

Sorry but why make comparisons. One is a good PL player and the other just short of being a true world class player.I`ll let you sort out which is which.

I can't put it into words how good and useful he's been to us this season. Brilliant in both ends and works his ass off in every game.

He's already played CB in a couple of games this season while we're pushing for a win. And last night was the first time(?) I saw him play on the wing. He was still immense and did a great job defensivly while still being able to create more chances than anyone else on the pitch and getting an assist to Yayas beautiful 1-3.

After this performance I can see us starting him on the RW more often, especially in big games. I'm sure he would be doing a great job as a fullback too if played there.

I was always a big fan of Milner and was really sad to see him leave. But with Fernandinhos performances this season it feels like he's an upgraded Milner. Great in many positions and even if he's not at his best he'll always put a shift in and being useful in that way.

I'd love to see more of his offensive qualities and hope to see him start on the RW at Wembley on Sunday.

I know you all love him but where do you want to see him play in the future and how do you think Pep will use him?
You did just put it into words though!

We have had three outstanding players this season: Hart Fernandinho and Kun.

Fernandinho is absolutely brilliant and very underrated, even by our own fans (we very very rarely chant his name to show our appreciation of him, when we chant the Zaba song eight times a game even when he's not playing).

I look forward to the chant "You're just a shit Fernandinho" being sung at Wembley as Jimmy "I joined for the history" Milner skies a shot into our end.

He is the one player that is - as someone said above - undroppable because he never ever has an off game. His name is pencilled onto the teamsheet every week.

As said, with respect to MIlner it's a massive disservice to liken him to Milner. Although, last night the best parts of his game going forward were precisely what Milner used to bring us and what we've been badly lacking all season. Movement! Nothing mind boggling but simple 1-2's and making runs off the ball for Silva made the team look infinitely better. I'd go with the same lineup for the final due to a lack of options but i want to see him back in his natural position as soon as possible.

Watching him last night, I saw why Pelegrini played Delph on the left all those other times. If you put in tremendous effort defensively you'd be a positive for your squad. I literally can see him and Delph playing LM and RM. Pretty much can play Silva and Yaya in the middle with those 2 on right and left of them. If Delph will just play up to the standard we know he can. :(

Bold claim, but here goes:

Since he joined ferna has been our most important player.

And might well be the hardest to replace.
I thought you were gonna make a bold claim :( Oh well, let me know when you get bold :)

The above counts more as obvious :)

Haha Dax you're a trusty outsider though!
Lol. I do agree with you he has been fabulous. :) He was one of the few signings we've made that I hadn't seen enough to have an educated opinion about. So I was pretty excited to see him. This marvel two way CM stuck in Russia. Is he like Ramirez or or Socrates. I couldn't wait to see him.

Can't say I have not been massively impressed. Love the guy. Wish he was 25.

Bold Claim, but here goes:

I think we slightly over rate him because pundits slightly under rate him. He's probably one of our most consistent performers and is also one of our most complete players but he isn't a leader in his position. He's more of a side kick to a more gifted player. That's not a knock on him, but he doesn't really have the personality to dominate the game with the ball. He might work the hardest off it, and close down the most space, but i'd still like to see more from him when we have the ball. Last night was a perfect example. He was just much more involved playing on the right.

For whatever reason, when he plays centrally, even alongside Fernando or Delph, teams often play through us and for some reason he's always above blame for it. Sorry to spoil the love in, overall i think he is quality but i do think when he plays centrally we waste a lot of his qualities and over rely on some of his other qualities. On the right last night we saw a perfect balance of his ability and he actually gave the performance we've all been wanting Navas to produce from the same position for the last 2 seasons.

I hear you. And this is why I've always argued that our biggest problems was not in the middle, but rather on the flanks. It is why I agreed with Pelegrini playing Delph on the wings. If we have shut down pressure on the wing, the middle becomes easy to defend. That's what happened yesterday. They simply got little love outside. Our pressure bds intense in the first half. We tired a bit in the 2nd, but the blue print was there.

Sevilla is a better team ( or more talented) and the results there was probably more impressive. But I believe this is the way we should approach the top tier Prem teams.

At home Fernandihno and Delph on the wing with Yaya and Silva in the middle behind Sterling and Aguero.

On the road drop one of Yaya or Silva for Fernando.
