Yaya

There's no doubt he's been very influencial in big games for us in the past but tonight we needed players prepared to put a shift in. Yaya doesn't offer that these days.

We needed physical presence as well as someone in the midfield who can pass under pressure.

With smaller players like Silva, Aguero, Navas, Dinho and Raheem we can be out muscled even by bang average players like Flanagan and Lallana. When the going gets tough we need the likes of Yaya and Nando to get stuck in.

They tried it on Sunday and Yaya over powered them. He isn't getting any younger and legs are going , however he is key for the remainder of the year.

Totally agree, we were bullied. Also Yaya provides that link to the forwards, tonight against the dippers the space between midfield and the forwards was way too much, would have faired much better by sitting back and playing on the counter. for all the whining about him he's the only player we have that can control a game.

We rely too much on individual players. When someone is out, someone else should be able to come in and do their job. This is Pellegrini's fault. That is what he is paid to do. He fails time and time again. Poor manager who hit the jackpot when he got this job.

We are a Europa League Team without Yaya! I said it before and it was very evident tonight!

Never mind the birthday cake. I would like to see a statue if Yaya outside the Etihad. He's been the most important player in our modern history!
Correct!

Correct!

Plus a chunk of the blame lies with Begiristain because of the weird signings that see Yaya's replacements being Delph or Fernando and Kun's replacement being Bony. What kind of signings are they? Players that don't do anything like the same job as the main men and then the manager doesn't change our tactics or gameplan when they have to come in.

Its sad to admit it, but its true.

Without Yaya we become Europa League team.

We spent +250 Million after we bought Yaya, but still we are relying on him more than any other player.

Txiki didn't sort this problem out, hopefully Pep will.

Dickhead here!
He would have made no difference what so ever.
Of course he would. We played an even stronger Liverpool side on Sunday and created a hatful of chances. He is a presence. and he holds the ball. He allows us to gain yards on the pitch.

If people can't see the difference when it has just been highlighted by two contrasting performances against the same opposition within the space of 3 days, then i despair.

Well said KippaxCitizen.

The alternatives to Kun and Yaya should be strong, fast, athletic players with sufficient skill to link with the rest of the team. We should have had an upgrade on Dzeko. Instead we have an injured Bony or Silva (playing further forward getting blown about in the Anfield gales) or Kelechi (who in time will be a City legend) getting his usual 15 minutes.

We will see if Pogba arrives in the Summer to help our midfield!

He made a hell of a difference in the 4-1 home defeat didn't he.

Running to find somebody to celebrate with ;-)

Where was he running to actually ? He was pointing somewhere for the other players to go. If Willy had realised we had won he would probably have run off with Yaya, instead Yaya ends up looking daft. Why always him!?

Wonder when he picked up that injury? He seemed alright wheeling away after the penalty.
He was down injured for about 2 minutes before the end of extra time, he limped up for his penalty, he limped away to the dressing room instead of joining with the lap of honour, and is clearly seen limping about in the dressing room, but I guess he could be putting it all on, and its really his fault we got hammered last night.

probably made that injury worse then, might have been better off celebrating with Willy and the rest of the lads, might of even played last night had he done so.

So him running to celebrate with Willy, rather than running to celebrate (after Willy waved him away), is the cause of the 'injury' that caused him not to play last night. OK.

This thread is hillarious, for weeks people have demanding he doesn't play because he's too lazy, then when he doesn't because of injury, someone is still trying to claim its laziness, and trying to link it to us getting battered away at Anfield.

YCNMIU.
