United Post Match Thread

Fuck me sorry doctor. Can you guess what I'm thinking now?
I'll give you a clue. Something to do with beer, benefits and a Monday club.
Go on son, amaze me.
Thinking about getting intimate with sheep would be my guess since you're asking, but tbh I couldn't care less what's going on inside the void of your cranium. You've obviously got nowt else on, so going on the internet and pleasuring yourself with inane posts is probably your version of foreplay before you indulge yourself in your planned sheep-fest.

I get it, you're happy with our form, the Milk Cup we won and our current 4th place. Just the same please accept that my expectations have risen somewhat in recent years and my concerns are based on the fact that we seem to be further away from our planned progression curve than we were 3 years ago.

might be going against the grain here but i actually think there were far more problems going forward than at the back yesterday,

yes MDM had a shocker and yes Fernando/Fenandinho would have done a better job at centre half but we restricted them to very few chances, one of which they took. I think there were more problems with the ineffective attack and the 3 shots on target (of 26). we had enough attacking possession to score a couple but fecked it up.

I'm with you on this. For me, the real problem is midfield. They neither support the defence nor attack. They seem to be stranded in no man's land most of the time. When you factor in the lack of goals from midfield it's no wonder we're struggling.

Poor Silva. Injured maybe but it'sad to see such a sublime player so out of sorts.

I cannot think of a game under Mancini where we got hammered more than say 2-0, if there is one I stand corrected.

The purchases made under Mancini were in the main very good. We built a robust and winning side with both guts and flair.

I blame higher management for all of what has happened to the brilliant work built by Mancini.

In any organisation there are sometimes problems between managers and workers. It is then that directors get involved.

I'm sure that the directors could see the great work that Mancini was achieving on the pitch ( where it counts ) I'm sure the directors were aware that he was a terrible man manager with an explosive manner that was upsetting people at all levels.

This could of been resolved if the directors were good enough at their jobs.

The directors take the easier route and hired a complete baffoon. We are worse than we were under Hughes. The baffoon has taken the project right back to it's beginning. In fact Mark Hughes brought in players that played huge parts in our recent success and actually had a game plan for each individual match and is proving that he can manage at Stoke.

This baffoon is a joke and the directors have failed Manchester City by not seeing through his failings two years ago.

It was the luckiest double you will ever see. Liverpool bottled it, the game at Anfield we lost and after that they imploded. The cup final it was two world class strikes that turned the game around, not any managerial decisions.

Our recent signings under this prat have been poor. He can go now for me, pay him up just get rid.

Our current form is worse than relegation, we cannot make top 4, we are in free fall and people on here have been saying it for weeks !

I sat in the fence thinking surely we must make top 4, even Mr Baffoon can get this squad to finish higher than 5th.

Well after yesterday I don't think he can. Playing MDM against two young flying kids ??? Wilfrid Bony ????

If we get any further in the Champions league and get Barca in the semis I can see a real hammering in the cards.

Wake me up in June

PSG are licking the it lips.

i have to agree, not only have the midfield exposed the back 4 time and time again, theyve now started to neglect Aguero and the goals have simply dried up from the middle. Hart, amazingly, has the most clean sheets in the prem but i believe that 50% of the defences problems this season have come from lack of protection through either poor position, poor team selection or poor work rate from the midfield.

We had chances, Aguero's header being the best but you can't say we exactly opened them up. Now I know they sat back after the goal but still. There's one reason we lost that match yesterday and that was our work ethic, work off the ball and lack of pressing in the first half. We let United walk into our final third. Mata's pass to rashford wasn't creative, it was a straight pass from central midfield into the feet of the attacker. None of our midfielders tried to close down matter. None were tracking back to cover our defence if rashford beat one of them, even with Demi's awful mistake it was a goal that could have so easily been avoided.
Spot on - our midfield is such a disjointed mess - it's unbelievable that the club has let it come to this. Poor work rate and far too pedestrian when we attack.

Teams know how we will play and know how to play against us. Say what you like about him, but the turtle isn't stupid and he worked us out, like at OT last year. The rags played the speedy three up front, like Leicester, like Liverpool, like West Ham, like how other teams try - attacking with pace while at the other end we watch our players trying to thread passes through 22 legs in a packed area. We have become predictable plus, the players have become stale because they know that there are no academy lads threatening their places.

so if we are going to plan and build a squad for winning the champions league and premier league how can most of this squad be in it they are way off and not good enough. yes demichelis sagna mangala Kolarov must move on just not done it Kompany is also not the answer long term you can not build a defence unit if he's out most of the time. Bony is shocking and never in a million years a top 4 player and Swansea is his level we only have aguero all season and he's been out for long spells. Yaya finnish sliva looks lost delph another player out for most of the season are they the answers for pep I don't think so

we need a new back 4 and 4 midfield players and 3 new strikers thats just to add to the squad that pep will be left with after the clean out. what is coming from the youth setup not much at the moment Iheanacho is going to need a very good pre season and then will be 4th choice when the new strikers come in. this is before we kick off next season and then it will be all over the place with new backroom staff settling in and the euro's in the summer means players come back late and miss pre season. if we do finnish 4th that means a play off game early season and could be a hard away trip to anywhere

the last day of the season for me is the start of the new season work must be done fast if not already. plans must have been set by the club players must have been talked to and agents meetings the club it must be sorted out before the euro's with players so pep can have the best chance

we will be limited by money and whether we are in the champs league or not also if we can unload or not. The main target should be to get a team to win the League

In an ideal world i would like to get rid of Kolarov and Clichy, Kolarov isnt good enough at defending and Clichy is crap attacting. Demichelis and Sagna because if nothing else their age. keep Zaba and get a good young right back, see whether Pep thinks he can get a tune out of Otimendi and Mangala. bring Denayer back and review vinny`s problem maybe have to bite the bullet and sell vinny. Sell Yaya and Bony and try and replace.

the bottom line is though, Pelligrini isnt good enough and its reflecting on the players making them seem worse than they are. Injuries have taken a heavy toll this year but imo team selection have played a bigger part

Sagna at centre back has not been tested there, but i see your point.

Fernando is shite, no other way to put it really. Have you seen our win percentage when Fernando and Fernandinho play in midfield together? Pathetic.

Maybe, but we play 4-4-2 and we lack balance in the midfield. Silva isn't playing centrally in his favourite position behind Aguero and he is completely isolated in a wide position. It is a tough one to call but we just do not have adequate replacements for any of these players. Quite remarkable considering the amount of money we have spunked on players.

What we need is De Bruyne back behind Sergio has he has the pace and intelligence we are lacking, he has been a massive miss for us

Our midfield has been the biggest problem all season. If you haven't got the pace and energy to get back and support the defence or to get forward to support the strikers it doesn't matter how technically talented you are because it's wasted.

Without a doubt he's under threat, Pep's teams have always played the ball out from the back, including the keeper. Joe just simply couldn't play this system.

Joes a liability when it comes to saving long shots too ie moses and lallana this season and Adam Johnson a few seasons ago come to mind. He's had good games for us but at the same time he's had shockers

I wouldn't be surprised if we get ter stergen in the summer

in terms of the cash that we'll have to spend, goalkeeper will be quite far down the list in my opinion. Not saying Joe is untouchable it's just the money - of which is finite if FFP is still a threat - will be channelled to other positions

True, but the Chinese business didn't happen for no reason. I can see us splashing money like never before

crikey, makes you think dont it. A large proportion of what we've spent recently will be sold on at big losses i think.

Even if there were, and that's open to conjecture, he wouldn't/doesn't attempt to play them anyway.

Even both our league wins we pretty lucky, we just arent as good as we should be/think we are.

Just watched the analysis back on MOTD and how Shearer was harping on about United getting in behind us yesterday unlike they had done ALL season. WE MADE THE SHITTEST UNITED TEAM IN HISTORY LOOK GOOD! That alone is evidence of how bad we are at the minute.

Forget the rags, fair enough they were reasonably solid but we gave them that game as a result of poor organisation and work rate. I feel like I say the same thing every time we lose to a big team. Midfield wise, we have no clue. Pressing wise, watch the players, they all point for people to press someone but then it isn't done and then they look baffled. They seem to have no idea as to who should be pressing the ball where. For example, Toure at points yesterday was pressing the United back 4. This is a defensive midfield player. Once he leaves his position, Fernandinho was consistently outnumbered and even a pub team could have played in and around him with the space we left. It's just unbelievable that a manager on a fortune can't fix an issue the average joe can see.

The defence you used to be able to provide Pellegrini with was that we were exciting in our offensive play, but even that's gone to pot. It's slow and lethargic at the minute. Granted we have injuries, but still, it needs a refresh badly. Navas had a reasonably good game by his own standards yesterday and it still wasn't good enough. Silva badly needs a rest and Toure struggles to attack and defend more than ever before.

The best teams in the league currently are Spurs and Leicester and they are there because they are tactically organised. They have a clear plan and tailor it to suit the opponents they play. The only change Pellegrini ever makes is sticking in an extra defensive midfield player based on whether he wants to attack or defend. I'm sorry but that's basic as fuck. We are consistently absent of a plan on how to stop teams playing and subsequently how to hurt them. We turn up week in and week out with the same plan and same players and think we'll get by on ability. I don't know how many times I've said that this season but I'm sick of it.

Pellegrini is a nice man. I thank him for that title win as we played some lovely attacking stuff. However, ever since then, he has slowly killed my will to care. Yesterday we played a Manchester Derby and I felt nothing. Not before, I didn't feel nervous, and not even during. That's because to me, we've hit the lowest point in the last 5 years. Some people could tell me to get over myself given where we've come from but, we are not even as good as we were before we won our first title. The year we won the Fa cup under Mancini we were a better team with a better points tally.
Pellegrini has single handedly killed the passion within me. You can never go to a game expecting an outstanding performance because there will be the same issues every time you go because he never changes a thing. It's like you go to the Etihad expecting a 6/7 out of 10 and never a show stopper, and that's depressing.

This season can't end soon enough and end the tenure of a stale and outdated regime not suited for the modern game.
