The Boxing thread

Keeping boxing legal and licensed prevents the whole thing going underground. Besides, it's also an incredible discipline and requires fitness like nothing else. The simple truth is that Blackwell's team should've thrown the towel in.

Good point mate. 'Throwing the towel in' is a rule that needs changing in my view, and dosn't always stop the fight. By that i mean a referee can 'ignore' this if he feels their fighter is still good to go. I remember Mickey Vann throwing the towel back out of the ring when Graham Earl fought Katsidis, same happened with Eric Morales. Even though it's very rare, the only way to guarantee the fights stopped is to literally climb in the ring. More importantly, things sound more positive for Nick and hopefully this continues.

Could well have saved the lad's life.

The way I read it is the Eubank snr was saying to his lad that basically you are not going to knock him out to the head because he's taken all your best shots so work the body and see what happens then. all this saving his life stuff is a bit far fetched for me.

Correct. He was landing huge uppercuts all night and Nick was just walking through them, he switched to the body to slow Nick down and hopefully take him out taking the wind out of him.

The Eubanks really are very unlikeable, if I was junior i'd be telling senior to shut up now. He's given him a leg up over other boxers now, time to back off a bit.

Anyone watching Broner - Theophane tonight? Surprised there's little about this in the media seeing as Theophane is still a Brit. Not on TV over here either.

Wasn't the fight cancelled or am I thinking about another bout?

Given Senior's history in the ring it is not completely implausible tbf

Broner wins then calls out Floyd and challenges him to a bout. WWEesque stuff and very cringeworthy. Broner would suck Mayweather off for a pay day right now though.
