Ticket Collection Paris

In the main, the ones saying this are those who didn't have to go to the collection point or know the fella in question

This is what's so annoying. Many of those criticising those that have complained didn't have to go through the rigmarole themselves - you have people mocking those that forked out extra money to get to the collection point, mocking those that waiting upwards of an hour, and mocking those that had a bad experience with said person.

I wasn't there myself but I've heard enough stories for me to have empathy with those that were inconvenienced or talked to like they were a piece of shit. Fans should be united and supportive when things like this happen yet it never ceases to amaze me how some of our fans turn on their fellow blues.

But I could turn your post around and say I was there and I didnt witness any of the problems people are writing about on here. I do not know the security guy but not one person empployed by MCFC was rude to me. I do however accept he was to others because they have commented on it directly, other than that I was not really inconvienienced (sp) by going to get my ticket so how can we united and suportive ?
Yes the system might need improving but to me the main plus point was that it stopped point whores selling their tickets.

If it was a PSG requirement why have City said it will happen at future European away games?
If it was a PSG requirement why was the same system in place in Kiev for the previous round?

I believe that initially it was a PSG initiative and other clubs subsequently implemented it for their own games. PSG have used this for other games, not just City and Chelsea.

And if it was a PSG requirement then why did the fans on the official trip not have to queue up at the hotel and go through the same process of those fans travelling independently?

To ease potential congestion at the collection point. Irrespective of the point of distribution the security requirements had been met.

Bollocks. People are "whingeing" because going off what many have said on here plus someone I spoke to on Saturday in the Lower Turks Head his attitude stinks and he talks to fans like they're criminals. That's not how anyone should deal with the general public. People like Lisa Eaton teach pricks like that how to behave every fucking time and he'd do well to learn some diplomacy skills from her.

As for this "very important cog in the company wheel", you're having a laugh mate. There are plenty of people that are capable of doing that job - you make it sound like he's as important to us as Aguero for fuck's sake.

If supporters have had a bad experience then this is a training issue not a sacking issue. Out of a couple of thousand supporters who collected their tickets (and I was one) we have a few on here who are complaining and making it personal by abusing this chap. Granted, he may need to change his attitude but that doesn't affect his qualification to be the best man for the job. As you say, if Lisa reads this thread she just needs to have a quiet word and job done. I accept that without voicing opinion nothing would be done but there is no need to get personal about it regarding his previous employment as no doubt his allegiance to his current employer over shadow that of his past employers. I'm sure that this chap doesn't come into work every day thinking "How can I make life difficult for these nasty City fans today?" I have more faith in the recruiting abilities of the City management than the hearsay of a bloke in The Turks.

Just like you, I had no issues at the Paris collection, although I did have an issue with the gentlemen in question in Kiev when he asked me what I thought and I gave him my answer. It ended with me telling him he shouldn't ask people what they thought if he wasn't prepared for them to answer. He was rude and condescending and in my line of work I've come across a lot of it.
I spoke to several fans in Paris that had not had a great experience when talking to him, one young lady in particular was left distraught for no reason.

The points I have raised:
  1. This should be discussed with the fans
  2. We should have known in advance of the draw they were going to do this, we will now by default
  3. We shouldn't have to carry our passports around with us, which is my main beef
  4. My time is my own, my freedom was hard won by my forefathers and we shouldn't be meekly giving it up.
  5. There are other ways of defeating the points whores without resorting to sledgehammer tactics.

Nobody is saying that everyone experienced a problem but some did. If you can't have empathy for your fellow fans that did experience issues because it all went swimmingly well for you then that's quite sad to be honest.

So those travelling independently have to go through security twice but those travelling on an official club trip only have to do it once? That sounds fair.

It's got fuck-all to do with who he used to work for - in any case, there will be United fans who have an equally dim view of him for sure. And please accept my apologies for taking at face value the comments made by some fans about his attitude on this thread along with the bloke I spoke to in the pub on Saturday - I'd sooner do that than assume that they're lying.

If what you say is true then I have no option but to agree that there is indeed a training issue here.

As for your points 1-5

1) I feel that this should be implemented by those who know or have experience in this area and not the fans. However the club should monitor feedback to see if there is any areas needing improvement.
2) Agreed.
3) I would much rather have my passport with me than leave it in a hotel room (whether it has a safe or not) and in many European countries it is a legal requirement to carry photo ID.
4) Agreed, but there are those who are threatening our ability to do what our forefathers fought for and if this is required to prevent them then it is a small price to pay compared with what our forefathers went through.
6) This is about security and the points whores result is a happy by product.

Not everyone who went to Paris are on Bluemoon, not everyone who had a bad time will post, similarly those who had no issues may not post.
However if the posters responding in the thread are indictactive of those that travelled then more have been negative than have been positive, especially as several of those who said it was all ok didn't actually go to the collection point to get their tickets yet have voiced an opinion.
However, IMO, just one episode of poor treatment is unacceptable but, then again, I may have higher standards when dealing with my 'customers'.

I didn't say the fans are the ones implementing it, I said they should be consulted.
If you prefer to carry your passport around with you that is your prerogative. However my daughter had her bag stolen along with her phone, credit card etc etc. They are easy to replace, a passport would not have been. I have no issue with carrying around photo ID, I always have two with me, but a passport is another matter.
It is about security and nothing else, which is why I, someone who has never been in any trouble at a football match, and attending since 1964, should not be subject to the restriction of my freedom.

Those on planes had already gone through security at the airport and had their passports with them.

I am not saying that the supporters on here or in the pub don't have a legitimate cause for complaint or are complaining unnecessarily. They wouldn't make things up for the sake of it. My first observation gave me the impression that he was being pilloried because he used to work for a rival company. I think we agree that there seems to be a training issue and that he doesn't approach supporters in "the city way". Hopefully this will be nipped in the bud and he will be taught the City Way" rather than his attitude becoming "the City Way". I still have faith in the recruiters though.

ive been recruiting staff for nigh on thirty years, most have been brilliant and gone on to great things, although even i have made some real mistakes and appointed fucktards, no one is perfect.

ps were you on the Thomas Cook plane?

If he is ex job, its engrained I'm afraid.

Jobsworth mentality that will never change.

Him having also worked for the rags is the cherry on top.

After calculating the taxi journey and the queueing I would guess that it took about an hour out of my day. Not a major problem, but only because I’d been to Paris before, and wasn’t in a major rush. If this had been my first ever trip then I would have been going bezerk.
Not convinced that it solved the points whoring issue, especially as I spotted a number of City fans at the hotel, who I know for a fact, don’t even hold a seasoncard in their own name, never mind having the required points.

If we do win tonight and then draw Wolfsburg, it would be hilarious.

For those who’ve never been, Wolfsburg has no proper metro, and only a couple of bars and hotels, in a shopping district, not dissimilar to Stockport’s Merseyway Precinct. Most City fans would stay in Hannover or Berlin, and thus face a complete pain in the arse scenario of travelling into Wolfsburg, and then returning to their original destination, before the game.

The same happened in Moenchengladbach, most stayed in Koln or Düsseldorf as that's where the planes came in

I have empathy for anyone that was abused. Your post and the point I answered said we should be united and supportive, I cant unite behind something when I and many others had the totally opposite experience to that posted on here. I believe a lot that has been posted on here is factually wrong, as an example the additional cost incurred to get to the hotel. The underground cost 3.60 euros return so why one quotes 60 euros I don't know (prepares to be called a busy arse again)

Squirty. I understand you are a Mod so can I ask this. Would you consider removing the ticket section for Euro games ? I read your post as to how to stop point whores but this way is simple and efficient compared to what you proposed.
Yes your forefathers fought for freedom but realting two world wars to being asked to travel from the airport/Gard Nord to a hotel is a little over the top.

Like Stockport you say? Most should feel at home :-)

And what of all the independent fans that were flying and had already gone through security at the airport? Why did they have to do it twice?

There's no such thing as the "City Way" - that's as cringeworthy as United fans claiming there's a "United Way" - but there is a way of dealing with the general public in a correct manner and by many accounts, he's fallen well short of that.

It seems some people have a real problem with City fans airing genuine grievances. We don't get everything right all the time, nobody does. Just accept that if you were lucky enough to get through the day without a hitch you did well. There were many who didn't though.

You obviously have a personal reason for not wanting to carry passports which I fully understand. There is no right or wrong solution to this.

Strangely enough I have also been recruiting staff for a similar amount of time with similar results to yourself and unfortunately the mistakes afftected my pocket personally. That is why I am very inclined to try to alter his attitude and nurture the positives.

Having said that, Bluinsa makes a very good point below. If he doesn't adapt then it is time to get rid. Just an aside to Blueinsa......thanks for the lift to the game in your pick up in S.A.

No, I wasn't on the plane, I always travel independently .
