Well done boss

If he had set the team up consistently in the fashion we saw vs PSG, we could quite easily have made a better fist of the league.

Or dropped points every time a defensive team decided to take the 0-0 that we were offering them on a plate.

IF he wins the champions league or reaches the final AND we secure the champs league 3rd spot, I'll applaud him on the way out the door, but I'll still see his tenure as a missed opportunity.

Yes, the champs league has been the big thing we've been judged on, but lets not forget it's a cup contest and it's one that Roberto Di Matteo has won, United won one due to poor penalties by their opponents and Benitez completely fluked in a contest they deserved to go out of twice that season but for ropey reffing and linesmen. It's a bloody difficult competition to progress in, but it's a tournament that can and in my mind has been won in the past by those that didn't deserve to win it. Now I can't see UEFA doing us any favours and if we win it credit where it's due, but I certainly would see a normal title charge as harder to achieve than a CL win.

But no matter what, this seasons failure to challenge for the title must be what he's ultimately judged on. We reinforced. Sterling, DeBruyne, Otamendi. Added Delph, lost Milner. sent Denayer out on loan despite him looking ready to go. We should have and were expected to push the big guns for the title. They all collapsed. A title win will never be easier than this season. Ever. But we stuttered and fell and never got going. We played a struggling Bony over a talented Kelechi and this cost us just as much as playing Demichelis.

Yet, we could finish with our best ever season.

Is it bitter to say we should have done more, or just pragmatic?

I read and take in your points but note not once have you mentioned injuries. The reinforcement you mention are a case in point, throw Vinnie and others into the sick note mix and it becomes fairly obvious in my mind why we haven't challenged this season. Also, we have players who have not maintained the levels of recent seasons, and that too surely has a bearing.

When you say it is the league that he should be ultimately judged on - by whom?

I'm glad we are getting Pep next season, but I am also glad we have had Pellers and think he has done OK for us in his tenure.

Some of the fools who slag off Pelle would do well to remember where we've come from as a club. We have no right to expect to win the league every year and I see a number of weaknesses in our team that would have led to us under performing this season, whoever the manager was.

Of course I get frustrated when we don't perform, but he's one of the game's good guys and I'd rather have him on our Roll of Honour than a **** like Mourinho or Baconface, however successful. When I look back in a few years I'll remember him fondly - it's fair to say we've had a few hopeless managers over the years (Steve Coppell anyone?!) and Pelle isn't one of them.

0-0 would be better than 0-3 tbf but many of the teams we have lost to, were actually trying to beat us by & succeeded. We can still win games without being wide open, as we have proved previously.

I agree, although I'd put the recent Liverpool match down to fatigue and both games against spurs to terrible officiating. Just making the point that there isn't a one-fits-all style unless you've the best team in the world in form.

No, I agree with that but we could have gone to Klanfield for instance & looked to counter what we knew was coming, rather than set up exactly as they hoped we would. So often we have done the same thing, with the same result, as if we are actually Barca or Real Madrid, & our method can't be stopped. But we actually lose.

Pellegrini has underachieved, there's no doubt about it. we have been for the most part poor in the league this season and last, either by accident or design we have done better than ever in europe. There are 2 matches coming up that could secure us top 4. both away from home, both very winnable, a golden opportunity to showcase his talent. I genuinely hope he gets it right and leaves us on a real high. Either way pep has a huge job on!

I'l be bitter with you if that's the case. Injuries or not we've frequently been able to field a side better than the opposition that has simply under performed. I think they're an easy excuse. Better set up and a bit more effort would have seen us at least challenge Leicester, even if not getting us all the way over the line. Injuries alone should never account for a top side falling this far behind unless 7/8ths of the squad caught Ebola.

How would you explain Chelsea?

Champions, has perhapsthe 2nd best coach accordingro most, and they fell into relegation zone.

Incredible the abuse Pellegrini was getting just a few weeks ago when the more mature, level headed supporter was simply saying injuries were stopping us.....

Seems everybody has forgotten the MDM selection against rags, I never forget losing to them, nor should you!

Oh dear, what's up with you?

Our manager got his 100th win today yet you dont seem all that happy about it or his achievement.

Why is that?
Because with the talent he had available, I think we should not be scrapping for fourth place, and losing to the worst rag team I have seen in many a year!

The season isnt over yet so who knows where we will finish and we are above the rags.

The season is 38 games, not 2 against the rags.
