that second half he was brilliant. great defending and passing. he looks like he's lost his confidence a bit in recent weeks. even solid defenders like baines and jagielka are now making mistakes, so i think under a better defensive coach he will be brilliant

He had a great 2nd half against Utd. Took a lot of responsibility and made an extra man in midfield, but makes a lot of defensive mistakes.

I would definitely still have him. He got bags of potential and he played really well 2nd half. I believe Pep would turn him into a defensive midfielder like he did with Martinez and Lahm
Also Pep is much better coach than Martinez especially at coaching defenders. Give him 2-3 years with Pep and Stones will be a fantastic player, and in both positions I reckon

We should always be striving to build a side of the best English talent. More often than not the best domestic sides have a strong national core. That's before we consider the issues of home grown player quotas etc.

If we're getting him it makes me think we'll be playing 3 at the back with Pep. Stones would be the one bringing out the ball from the back. Hopefully the other 2 will cover for him. Don't know about 50 mil though.

Watched the second half last night and I gotta say I'm very impressed by him. Obviously he's still raw but I'm convinced of his raw talent and now I can see why Pep wants him so much. Just from what I've seen last night he can already be a holding midfielder. His passing and ball retention is very good, already better than Fernando and Fernandinho I've gotta say. His defensive awareness is lacking but really there is no world class defender at the age of 21. I think Pep believes he can teach Stones defensive awareness more easily than teaching Mangala to be a better ball-player.

He was poor for the first half, had a very good second 45 then blew it in the last minute by not being aware of his positioning and allowing Martial to get wrong side and score the winner.

I have said before that I haven't watched him play a lot. But my post before was only referring to his play on the second half last night.

He's woeful at positioning but hopefully that can be coached into him. If we do go for him we'd be fools to pay £50m, his value must have dropped to £30m max now

He gave the ball away more often than anyone else on the pitch I reckon.
