The battle for 4th place

That's the thing. James Milner wasn't a star, never has been, never will be. But he could easily be MOTM many times a season in many different positions. Never stops working, never stops running and can increase the work rate of others around them, making the team better as a result. We've tried to make Delph that player this season but going off his games in the left wing, it's clear as day, this lad isn't that player. He cannot play in different positions.

The thing is, there might not be any more James Milners out there. They're very hard to spot.

John O'Shea was that player for United for a while. I remember him once playing in centre mid at Highbury against that great Arsenal team and he scored and got MOTM in a United win. John O'fucking-Shea, better than Henry and Scholes in a big game. That's what Milner used to bring to us but I think you fall upon those players rather than purposely go out and find them and Milner wanted to play for Liverpool and we haven't happened to find that kind of player to replace him.

That is probably the sad truth. Both in life and in football James Milner is a rarity. I can think of one or two who may share similar attributes (Saul?) but they are pretty much unrealistic targets. But with the academy putting more focus on teaching them to be a person rather than just a footballer, there may be greater chance of finding another in the future.

Looking at the table again and 1 more point would have had us in a much better position, goal difference won't be able to work in our favour this season. We really need West Ham to take points off of the rags

Loving all this rose tinted Milner bollocks after his third decent game of the season for Liverpool.

Yeh, the extra point would be good cos then a draw and a win in our last 2 would guarantee top 4.

GD still might be useful if we draw both games and rags win 1 and lose 1

Vinnie, Joe & Zab spring to mind
In seasons gone by, but not this one. To be honest, I don't count the keeper as he can't really use use that quality to affect the team, and the fact that he's been an ever present this season probably proves that (it's a shame he can't pass it onto others).

Injuries?
Players finding out Pep was coming next season?
Players past it?
Squad not refreshed in the right areas?
Poor Team selections?
Stronger league?

I suspect all of the above

Like you say, a multitude of reasons.

i suspect your frustration is match by the people who think the opposite of you, nice to see you say it might be selections although you`ve omitted to say systems

No my frustration is against the vitriol and bile that so called blues think is ok to use against their manager. Selections/systems add them to the list if you want, I don't have an issue with that, it still amounts to a variety of reasons

Ultimately the players have got to take responsibility, is it Pellers fault that some of them stroll about couldn't give a shit? Yes he could not select them etc etc but these players are paid a kings ransom to play fucking football, not working down the pit or on some oil rig or even minimum wage, they are paid to kick a football & the least the fans deserve is 100% effort, that's all we ask #CTWD
