The last 2 season can only be described as underachievement. I know we won the League Cup and got to Semis of Champions League, but a semi is not really an achievement as such and yes a Cup is a Cup, but we have 2 players for every position in the squad and are just about the only Premier League team who plays a near full strength team in every round.
I am grateful for his service to the club yes for that he deserves respect, but so do the many other people who work for City on the playing or non-playing side, many who leave after a lot more than 3 years service without a cheer from the crowd.

Completely agree that Bob developed the side and made them winners.

Where we then differ is the mantra that Pellegrini inherited a winning side. He didn't as that side had downed tools under Bob and forgot all about winning unfortunately.

Good managers both, came and won us titles and pots, but ultimately for different reasons had to go and both not in the same league as Pep.

Mancini took over a mid table side and built a cup and title winning team. Pellegrini took over that team, spent a fortune and made it worse.
I still think it was right to sack Mancini, but he did a far better job than Pellegrini.

We finished 2nd and lost the cup final in an overshadowed match. The players weren't, apparently happy and got what they wanted.
They were still the 2nd best side in the prem and younger and fitter. He certainly inherited an excellent squad that only needed a change of figurehead.

that's not a particularly fair comparison, the squad was nowhere near the strength in those early days as it is now. Besides with added investment and time to put your own stamp on things, you'd expect performances and results to get better, not worse over their tenure. To lose 5 home league games in a season where you're meant to be favourites for the title, added to another 5 on the road plus cup losses, just creates that apathy as you just get used to it. You get used to losing games again, that's what for all of his other faults Mancini brought, it hurt to lose because we were so close to our dreams, which was why in 2012/13 think turned sour on here because it meant a lot to so many people. Now lots of people are pissed off, but it was a war under Mancini, now that war on here for Pelle was 18 months ago, because people have become used to it, bored by it and started caring less.

I didn't want this to be Mancini v Pelle as both should have gone before they did, but it was about the mentality of the club and its position and how that's affected the fan mentality.

Its to counter the narrative that we didn't lose many games or felt unbeatable whilst under Bob.

I will agree that defensively we looked far more solid but we still conceded goals and we still lost games.

We've probably earned something like £65-70m in prize money this season from the CL. We're also back on the FFP rolling 3-year assessment basis so we have to take the previous 2 years results into account.

However all transfer spend this summer will go through the 2016/17 accounts (and beyond) and these accounts will be boosted by the increased revenue from the new PL deal.

So it's not a complete disaster if it's just for one year but we might have to hold back on some transfer activity for a year.

As ever fella great precise info, that's good news as far as I'm concerned, so we can still get our targets in then, fantastic news.

That was my main concern that it would affect Peps plans before he even got here.

Ok, 9 league defeats in 2010/11, only 2 at home.
2011/12, 5 defeats, 0 at home.
2012/13, 6 defeats, 2 at home.

2013/14 Pelle 6 defeats, 1 at home.
2014/15 7 defeats, 2 at home.
2015/16 10 defeats, 5 at home.

so 4 defeats to 8 at home in 3 seasons, plus we hadn't lost 10 league games in a season since 2008, and with a win next Sunday Pelle will beat Mancini's attempt in his first half season after taking over from Hughes by a single point. If we don't win on Sunday we will have a lower points total that at any time under Mancini.

and before people jump on me, I made a point to reference to the wider feeling around the club and my personal feelings and experiences of this season, blueinsa turned it into Mancini v Pelle. I've been going all season just as I have in recent years, and I've not felt this inevitability about being beaten as I have this season since Hughes. The club had pushed forward with an identity and a hunger and it's unraveled, and it's a club wide series of factors that in my view have pushed fans further away from the club than before. The performances and results don't translate to what the ownership say they want to achieve, the signings don't back up those ambitions, the reluctance to be radical and change things to stop the rot adds to that. The level of real involvement and connection with the fans has dropped despite what the ownership say they want and how the club wants to portray it, and our club identity has taken a pummeling despite what the club is trying to portray to the world as being "City" and #together etc. etc.

Thus, the apathy has set in, and it's not nice.

yes, in fact my only frustration is that we may miss out on a couple of key first choice targets because of lack of CL and less budget to play with, and the fact he should be trying to win us the CL not the Europa next season.

I was convinced he was coming within months of Pelle coming in, and have been waiting expectantly for this moment. I've been watching all year seeing what we're doing badly now and how Pep will improve it, and I can't wait. It's just a shame it won't be on the ideal terms for him to do his best in the short time we've got him for.

I was near jubilant yesterday that this was over and Pep's coming, I can't wait for this week to be over and for it to be official. The Transfer Update thread will return and I will tapping my fingers waiting to type the ins and outs at City, whilst having great joy in typing (Manager-Pep Guardiola) next to City's name.

This wait has been like the all day car journeys as a kid where you needed a wee 2 hours from home and there were no stoppages en route. I've been waiting 2 1/2 years for next Monday and the new era to come, can't wait.

Yes.

Over the years they have never been a poor club, and have done worse than many comparable clubs. City have splashed big cash since at least the 50s. Until the recent mega-money many clubs did better with less cash.

Then there is the ticket office which was not brilliant in the olden days and has got worse since they bought their first computer.

I'm not saying it is the worst run club about, but for all the money and support it's had over the years it hasn't done that well.

In my opinion we are now seeing the ultra-rich version of 'typical City'.
