Probably the same as with gollum.

Fail to qualify for Champions' League and you're sacked. However, with the FA Cup final the week after the end of the season, they had to wait until after the weekend.

It was PEG - and Mendes - who fucked things up for them.

Yes i get that but if they've already got him lined up then surely they'd have been better advised to get him in straight away and guarantee CL football.

I also understand that maybe he had an agreement with Chelsea that he couldn't take a job for a particular time frame but he didn't leave Chelsea amicably, he was sacked for being totally shit at his job, why would the bother inserting a clause or him accepting one?

Anyway who gives a fuck, short term gain for them yet long term another total fuck up.

They've really have turned into us from 30 years ago, after becoming the scousers for a while with history blah blah blah, who next, Rags from early '70's??

I can't understand why the didn't go and get 'The P.E.G' in January if the reports are true of meetings and a retainer being paid, if they knew then the turtle was going at the end of the season why not do it then, after their worst run of form in 26 years? The press would have all been saying it was the correct decision and nobody could really criticise them for it.
He'd have almost certainly guaranteed Champions league football, especially the way we imploded this season and they'd be able to attract the elite players, all it has proven to me is how much of a shambles they've become.

The good work of the save our turtle campaign saved him in January!

In December, Mourinho was still pretty damaged goods. Employing him them would probably have gone wrong very fast. Unfortunately, he's probably had time to calm down since.

Sadly, I think he will be successful there, and I expect them to be in the top 3 next season.

Why do they keep saying that United aren’t a sacking club, when in reality they’ve sacked 7 of the last 8?

In fact, once you’ve allowed for Keegan and Pellegrini, that’s actually worse than City

How are they not being slated for nailing down mourinho before firing the TT? Why are they only now trying to finalise personal details?

Shambolic!

They may well win the odd trophy with Mourinho in charge but I look at it as short-term pain for long-term gain. Look beyond their U-21 title last season and their academy is a mess and Mourinho won't give a fuck about that so when he leaves they'll be in an even deeper hole. It's a sticking plaster appointment.

Succes in the short term. No place for youngsters. Always one or two players that have their brains turned by him. Club at shambles when he leaves. At least that's what happend with his previous teams. You don't want Mourinho if you want to build sustained succes imo. Than obviously there is the way he wants his teams to play the big games i.e. waiting for opponents to do the mistake.
You also wonder what happened at Chelsea after they won the title in 2015.

It's the giddy rags' level of expectation that has me rubbing my hands. Anything less than the PL title next season will be viewed as failure. If they happen to win it (which I don't thnk they will as there'll be too much competition for them) it'll be a short term hit that will send their level of expectation even higher. The crash to earth when it all goes tits up - as it's bound to do not too far down the line - will send the deluded fuckers suicidal.

Fingers crossed, eh?

Just struck me what Van Gaal's statement reminded me of. It's those statements released by hostages or Prisoners of War who say all the expected things whilst captive but with sufficient exaggeration and hyperbole to show the outside world that they are being forced to say it.
