For anyone that may have doubted that remain MPs would do this, see the link below

The questions I have are...?

1) Are they entitled to do this?

2) If they did it would it be legally binding? They are there to represent the public, nothing more nothing less, if and its a big IF the public do vote to leave can they legally go against public wishes?

This does smell like there is a bit of panic and contingency planning going on. I would be particularly interested in the views of the BM Remainers about this, notably about, why do you think they're taking thus stance and quite simply, is it fair and democratic?

Surely they [the Government] need be more focused on working out how we will move forward rather than concentrating on retrospectively fighting or challenging a [public] defeat. Didn't Ireland and Greece do something similar and reject their referendum results on recent EU votes?

If we vote out we just need to take our medicine. That would our membership of the EU once the necessary termination agreements / processes had been followed!

Come on Tim, even you cannot condone such an action.

It calls into account why are we having a referendum at all if the Government are only going to overturn it if the result goes against them!

I have already posted that we would have to take our medicine!

I just felt it was a bit rich your colleague repeated his claims of Remain Campaign exaggerations on the day Gove blame the EU for international terrorism. Do you really want the Goves and Bojos running the country because that what would come next!

Fair play Tim, but in all fairness the "take the medicine" answer came in your second post, anyway, that aside.

As to the question of Gove and Bojo vs Call me Dave and Gideon. Put a between couldn't you fagpaper them.... rearrange these words to make a common phrase or saying.

I occasionally have to do a bit of work so I didn't see your post in Realtime lol!

Gove & Bojo and you are probably looking at a privatised NHS, just to give one example!

The others aren't great I agree but at least they've been doing a half decent job of managing the economy!

Blimey, there's three new threads in your one post!

Are Call me Dave and Gideon doing a good job?

Is the NHS safe with BoJo and Gove?

Does Tim really work? - only kidding mate 80)

Not sure if anyone can assist as I can't access swathes of this website http://www.pollstation.uk/eu-referendum/poll/ as I am not in the UK. I read that over 107,000 votes had been casted and the figure for leave was 85% -

Has anyone here voted on this site? If so does it allow you to make multiple votes?

I always ignore the main media online polls as most of them are right wing and allow multiple votes so totally useless as a guide to anything but I heard this website was reputable but I can't believe that those numbers are right!

Just voted; it does not allow any additional votes, only to change it.

I am a strong remainer
But I believe the poll is probably in the right ball park.
I predicted 75% for leave months ago.

Wow, not sure what to take from that then -

I had an image of Nigel sat on the battle bus clicking on leave all night. I know those on the leave side are more passionate about this referendum but I do find those figures very high on a sample of 107,000 people on a supposedly neutral website.

The bookies usually have the best idea as there's money at stake and they don't like to lose. Currently most are offering 2/5 to remain and 2/1 to leave.

Would normally subscribe to that as well but there is something odd going on when you look at the results on other websites (not just footy ones) they seem to indicate leave ahead in most of them -

It's not so odd. If you're happy with the status quo, you're less likely to be motivated enough to get out and debate on forums and take part in polls. The very act of being involved in these debates, applies a filter that skews the results in favour of the Leavers.

I expect a significant swing back to the incumbent position (i.e. remain) in the actual referendum, just as there's always a significant swing back to the incumbent party in general elections. Unless the "challenger" is very significantly ahead by polling day, they always lose.

I find the tone of the comment sections in the BBC HYS articles quite enlightening. Very heavily in favour of leaving. The revolt against what was expected of Labour in the GE was also well predicted on there.

I would generally agree with that too as the Indy ref showed that those that shout the loudest don't necessarily win but I can't help thinking some people on the left are turning this into a referendum on DC and non eu matters. I know you were calling 60 plus on remain but I think you're being a tad optimistic there. We will have a fair idea even before the polls close with the private exit polls being conducted.

Its far more than that, the difference between a free trade arrangement and the EU of today plotting to take over europe by hook or by crook is plain for all to see.
That some people can not or will not for there own reasons is amazing in itself, not the politicians who are mostly corrupt to the core, but people you would expect to be able to think things through to the logical conclusion of where and what the EU is leading to seem oblivious to the consequences of a remain vote.

Surely an out vote would give the current government carte blanche to introduce any policy they want. Given their recent record wouldn't you say this was a bad thing?

That more or less reflects what some people including me are finding, I mix with a more than average diversity of people and have run into very few remainians

Only my opinions;

1) yes, they are, but it'd be at the sacrifice of their seat at the next by-election if they were found to vote against the opinions of their constituency and acting on their own opinion.

2) I don't know of any law against it. All we can do as citizens is make complaints about that particular MP and hope the party members suspend them or they step down and we can have another by-election for that area.

3) Oh absolutely! They've realised the 'little people' won't be bought off with free mobile phone charges and cheaper European holidays, nor scared with financial ruin and global thermonuclear war.

Ah, the much vaunted 'democracy' i keep hearing about.
