I don't know whether we should be in or out and I'm not sure anybody really does. What I do know is that having come to a referendum, a remain vote takes whatever power we have away from us. If Cameron or any future leader doesn't like some future EU policy and starts to complain, the EU will tell him to sod off because his country seems to approve of the way the EU is run.

This.

We don't know where they will come, only that our debt levels are pretty dire with no sign of decreasing them without more cuts. Sadly no government wants to implement them because they are political suicide and also dangerous if they don't manage them well... they can make matters worse.

Unless there's a miraculous surge in growth, we can't reign in the debt without more cuts.

Well thats for another day, but you did say cuts that the public were not aware of.

He means the fact that there's far worse to come. But hang on, our EU membership brings us financial stability and economic growth we're told. So how come our economy isn't really growing, our national debt is increasing at a rate of knots and our balance of payments is getting worse and worse. And that most of Southern Europe is a financial basket case, despite being in this community that apparently so strengthens our trade and finances.

The truth is that us and Germany keep the EU going financially and if we come out I suspect the whole thing will collapse in a heap within 5 years. The EU was a Franco-German con-trick to dominate Europe but the French really don't even seem that interested these days. The post-war West German leadership were very clever. They saw a way that they could rule Europe politically and financially without actually invading it. So instead of fighting tank battles, they signed European treaties. Instead of the SS & Gestapo, they set up the European Parliament and European Central Bank and simply moved the Reichstag to Brussels.

What we need is a good war ;-)

Nobody is going to stop trading with us. Nobody is going to stop buying / selling products to or from us...

It's the renegotiation of deals at a national or business to business level (as a result of national deals) that change the terms. To you and me that's the cost of products and services.

I don't think a single person on either side of the camp has suggested we will cease trading with certain other nations, that's not even up for debate. The debate is the effect of being in or out on those trade deals and what it means for both large and small businesses - which ultimately means prices / jobs to the UK population.

If we leave the EU, we will badly wound it. That's not necessarily a victory to celebrate - we still have to take care of ourselves outside the EU. However, as a wounded animal, the very least we can expect is some animosity.
Some people we will have an elevated level of power over the EU, others believe otherwise. We will just have to wait and see how that pans out. But I really cannot the EU rolling over and having it's belly tickled after being wounded (even if it's the right move to leave).
We can argue until the cows come home about who needs who the most... it doesn't mean either side will make purely logical decisions.

We vote to stay in the EU we will regret it. Trust me. Majority of people (who was born in this country) are unhappy with the way the country is going.. so another few years of this and people will be begging to leave the broken EU.

Yes, because I here lots of people saying 'we're coming out of recession now' - things are looking up. It's a bit like stopping for a picnic on the way to the dentist... there's more pain to come despite brief moments of optimism!

Have to say, I wish Farage was PM instead of spineless Cameron. He seems genuinely passionate about Britain's interests and making the country great again.

A bit like Brian Clough in football though, he is not PC enough to lead England.

I can see us remaining and regretting it in about five years. We need to be looking at the long term future, not short term.

100% this is what will happen, as always. Like voting Cameron as majority now the majority hate his guts LOL

We always seem to react after things happen, but never have the foresight to see the bigger picture.

We have two years to sort that out in those two years possibly we have negotiated trade deals with the new American Administration, all the Commonwealth, the Far East and South America. What´s that about 5 billion people.

I do think people are not impressed with how the nation's going, but I think they're blaming the EU for too much, and not blaming our own incompetent governance (both Labour and Tory/Lib).
Many of the criticism (though not all) that people lay at the EU - we could have managed ourselves, and we've not done so.
Only 50% of the migration problem is from within the EU - so the other 50% is entirely down to us. Yet now we are supposed to believe that we're going to manage the same 50% PLUS the EU migrants much better? - how? and who is going to pay for the additional border security? There isn't a 200K border security all lined up twiddling their thumbs - we don't actually have the security in place!

Majority of people will ALWAYS be unhappy.

If we don't LEAVE we might get rid of Cameron at the same time. He's nailed his colours to the mask so much now that how can he possibly remain supportive if we vote to LEAVE?

2 birds with 1 stone. Bonus !!

We may well set up deals with them. But we don't know the terms, and they aren't all selling the products we want.
Shipping goods from outside the EU takes longer and is more costly (typically). Two years is also no time at all, and that's two years of uncertainly which is abhorrent for stability.
There is a reason why so many businesses have a supply chain entirely within the EU, because it's pretty efficient.
I'm not saying we can't succeed - I'm saying it's not a sure thing, and it's certainly not going to be easy. There will be pain before we reap any benefits.

Hi Dave ;)

Very polished from Nigel Farage cutting off that EU foreigner spouting rubbish like we are some small nation who can be bullied "sorry.. who are Spain!? we won't be bullied by ANYONE WE ARE BRITAIN !!" you have to love that as a Brit. The patriotism lacking in British politics for years.

Very Polished?....That pharmaceutical bloke blew him out of the water.....and he just had no reply....expect "we are British"....The guy might have been an expert in his "area" but Farage did not have a clue or a counter argument....and in "my opinion" you could have had someone from manufacturing or any other sector and he would have given the same reply....because its clear the outs have no plan...We've already heard today that £65mil billion in investment has left UK because of the concerns over our economy if we leave...but, but, but...we British!!!..who are we kidding!!.....markets and investor movements are the first sign of trouble.....by the time it hits the man on the street its too late....Cameron was asked for a plan so he told us what his plan is, whether we agree with it or not...he has a plan if we "stay" and has agreed a better deal for the UK for immigration controls, to stop people claiming benefits etc etc........Cameron's plan might not be perfect but atleast he has one..but Farage?....doesnt matter...we are British!!......

I watched the question time tonight and if completely honest I expected Cameron to do alot worse than what he did but I wasnt concerned about that because this vote isnt about the leader of the conservative party..Farage didnt seem to have any grasp on the economy, on how it works and the effects leaving might have....he just kept playing the "We are British" card when he didnt know the answer.......
