If the opposition know they only have to worry about your forwards scoring then it becomes predictable and they can restrict space in behind. Having a goal threat like De Bruyne in midfield who can score from distance or get into the box gives means they have to close down on the edge of the box which in turn creates space for the forwards.

At least we can take some comfort in knowing that Real selling Kroos to sign Pogba would surprise pretty much no-one at all. We should probably be hoping for Pogba to start setting the Euros on fire.
