John Stones

Thanks to @karen7, @GeorgeHeslop'sTackle. And @Neville Kneville for putting me straight. I really really really didn't realise that Neverton were now the resident hypocrites. Funny old game

The Everton predicament is funny and they are hypocrites. The whole Premier League vote to adopt these FFP changes was a bit of a farce I seem to recall given that some clubs may now want to change their minds and with the legal status of the rules being potentially under question - does anyone know if the rules can be reversed?

Skimmed through your post.

City and Stones have not entered negotiations. Everton have been contacted, City have been told to wait until after the Euros and that a lot of money will be required. Money is of no issue to Everton anymore, transfers are purely to dodge the slalom that is FFP. All this I know to be an absolute fact.

I was very hopeful of it a month ago. I was sure that Lukaku was going and Stones would stay.

Now, it appears as though the opposite is the case. Funny how things change. I assume Koeman has made a decision and deemed Stones expendable in order to improve the squad. I can see why he'd value a proven 25+ goal per season striker over a defender, but I would honestly prefer if we kept Stones; he has a high skill ceiling.

As I've said, the investment has made money no issue. The issue now is FFP and Stones' sale would allow Koeman to make the transfers he needs to improve the squad in the areas that need improvement.

To summarise what I said above, it is likely that Stones will be sacrificed for FFP, which is why you haven't been told "not for any price" but rather "wait".

It's not just Stones being away at the Euros which is delaying these negotiations. Koeman has a list of targets and the Euros are preventing him from negotiating for those players too. Once he can summarise who's available, who he can get and how much it will cost, any negotiations over Stones can begin.
Fair enough. All makes sense.

You sound raggish mate. Let it go. Another team's ambitions should not find do much disdain from a City fan.

I don't mind if they are mate. But I just can't see it - there are 6 or 7 teams more than 3 years ahead of Everton. They are potentially a huge club but they need a new ground desperately.

Leicester wasn't supposed to be in this year. There are no rules to this thing. You get your talents right and top 4 is doable.

Perhaps I'm not being clear enough.

Everton do not need to "sell to buy" anymore in the sense that they lack funds. There is no lack of funds at all. Every player we wish to buy, we can afford to buy, without sales. The issue lies in FFP. I can understand where the confusion was coming from with regards to my posts.

No.

City said "want to join?"

Stones said "yes please".

That is literally it.

Cheers for the kind words.

Actually, most people (like yourself) are pessimistic at our chances of reaching the top four.

The new board members have ruthless intent. Everton reaching fourth, or higher, in the next three years, is much more likely than you think. It'll become clearer after this transfer window.

Cheers for the kind words.

I don't believe I've been wrong with anything I've said and I've been saying stuff for a couple of years here now. I'm not denying Stones wants to go.

Stones will be a City player when the season starts.....£100 to a nominated charity of yours or my choice?

Re-dyed. A cunning plan for getting shut of all those (Now useless) Euro notes, that we had kept under the Colin Bell for a rainy day

My memory is patchy - but I remember years ago Swales announcing to the AGM that the club had bought into one of the Tory privatisations - i think it was the TSB sell off (about £2k in total! - Swalesie was a big time player) - I wonder if we ever cashed the shares in - could be a tidy sum - enough to buy Yaya a cake.
