John Stones

I take issue with this - we shouldn't accept inferior players on the basis we have a great manager who will get more out of them. You could apply that to any player. We should be looking for the best and John Stones is not good enough in my book. He might get to that level but so might Denayer or Tosin or Humphreys.
I agree, he won't get to that level as a centre half, but I believe he would as a Basquests-type CM. His natural skill set screams that role but because of previous development he is being pegged as a defender. I think Pep would change that (he has a history of moving players to positions previously not considered and getting the best out of them) but I am not sure anyone else would.

Isn't the myopic thinking the person who says he is definitely not s centre half? Oh wait a minute......

He is more like Pique, than he is like Busquet. He can comfortably become either a good CB or a good CM. HW is a good young footballer. If he has good luck with injuries and ends up on a top team, he'll be great.

Denayer is just as good if not better wiht the ball and can defend. Save the money and give stones a year under another manager. He'll still be 50mil in a year but we might get to see him under a manager who can organize a defence. I wouldnt touch him based on this years performances.

I can't say I agree with the Pique comparison but I think it would just be quibbling to argue his attributes at this point.

I stand by my assertion that Chelsa would ruin him, though.

Who said anything about accepting inferior players?

I would have thought the chances of him ending up at City are reasonably high so we may find out.

Disagree with this, if a manager's good at setting up a defence then I think they'll end up doing good

Mourinho is good at setting up a defence (before this season lol) and were linked with stones in the summer...just shows how highly he rates him
