We need a leader at the back and Kompany simply isn't reliable enough. Bonucci's ability to spot a pass from the back is second to none. Could you imagine signing Bonucci, Kroos, Sane, Peres, Nolito and Gundogan in one window?!

Agree with all you said, Pep wants that CB that can take the ball from the keeper and actually drive it forward if the gap opens up and start an attack, giving an extra man up in midfield. Stones is a younger version of players of that ilk....Boateng, Bonucci, Pique etc. That is why Stones is high on the list for us to get this summe, he is the player Pep can turn into a world class CB.

Komoany can do this, but unfortunately his injury record is letting him down, Bonucci would be ideal for Stones to play alongside, also with Vinny, to learn that trade

He is 29 but as far as I know his injury record is pretty good and Italian defenders have a great longevity record.

Or we could buy younger players like Managala and Ottamendi who need replacing in 2 years for other reasons

It could be the perfect strategy and legacy should the masterplan,that is the integration of our own Academy talents,be implemented over that period.

Besides,if his tenure is succesful,i'd take the 3 year thing with a pinch of salt.

Nolito cost pennies and Bonucci would be worth the money.

You'll have to give him a few minutes whilst he runs another Monte Carlo simulation programme to see what that spits out. It may need slight adjustment and a few re runs to clear any bugs that keep putting Bonucci in the top few :)

Andrea Barzagli is 35, Giorgio Chiellini is 31 and I don't see either of those quitting any time soon. Cannavaro, Maldini, Baresi, Cabrini and many many other Italian defenders had long careers into their late 30s at high level.
There is every chance Bonucci would remain a top player into his mid 30s which is not short term.
The influence he would have on the younger generation must also not be ignored. He would help improve the next generation.
I do think however that Juve are extremely unlikely to let him go.

Bonucci is a good defennder but unless everyone here started watching football in January, as there have been multiple threads with multiple people listing top defenders prior to January 2016. You can check the Kompany threads for such. Not one person listed Bonnuci prior to January 2016 in their top 5.

This new found love for Bonucci came on the heels of Pep complimenting him as the best around prior to Juve playing Bayern. So when I say he is not considered the best, I'm considering the history of Bluemoon and those historically considers top defenders. Chiellini, Silva, Pepe, Ramos, Pique, Kompany and Hummels. That was the list. Boateng got no love for deserting us or else he'd have been on it too. Kolcieny and Airderwrld got mentions when people actually watched rather than go off reputation.

I am willing to pay to anyone's charity of choice if you can find a post from prior to Jan 2016 in which anyone here now or anywhere on bluemoon for that matter listed Bonnuci in their top 5 defenders. I'll pay 100 dollars to that posters charity of choice.

Unless a lot of you are now arguing he skyrocketed in the last 6 months even though his 29 and has been good for a very long time. Anyway pointless point
