Pep loves Bonucci so not surprised he want's him, awesome defender but you make a good point bozzie. Who knows how good he is in a new system but I guess you can say that about a lot of players!

Sadly I agree with one of the replies to this tweet. His goal is to get Bonnucci a big pay rise at Juventus.

I'd love to see him here I just can't see them letting him go.

If we are to get Bonucci, he would have to ask to leave, but I can't see him doing that.

You cannot say in one post he is not in the top 10 in the world and then put in him the top 5. Your simulation software needs debugging :)
I like ball playing CBs. But I'm sure most of BM don't give particular reverence to that. So I'm shocked he is suddenly considered by so many to be the absolute best. I thinks he is one of about 20 to 25 CBs ID be fine with. Ranking them blurs how close they really are in talent.

The sense I get from reading this thread is that he is uniquely special. What I expected was what you normally get in ranking Boateng. Some think he is top end, while others think he is average, soft, shit or what have you. That's the kind of response I expected of Bonucci. Strange to find a thread where everyone seem to have him 1 o r 2 on their list all of a sudden.

Hence the question, where did folks tank Bonnuci as late as February of 2016?

Whilst I cannot doubt Bonucci's abilities, I find it difficult to believe that we would be willing to spend in excess of £90m on the centre of our defence this window. After all, we bought Otamendi and Mangala just last season for a combined total of over £60m.

he will be a fan favorite immediately. he plays with so much fire we'll all love this guy from day one. Pay him Pep!!!

I don't think his name would have come up much because he seemed like a player who would never move. What is/was the point? I think the reason he gets rated so highly is that he's a typically solid Italian defender who happens to have a pass in him. The difference with someone like Boateng is that it feels like there's more of a trade off there. Boateng has all the physical tools to be a tremendous defender but it always feels like there's a mistake waiting to happen there. People just have an innate confidence in Bonucci.

If you had asked me to rank defenders in Feb of 2016 I almost assuredly wouldn't have even thought of Bonucci because the whole purpose of the exercise would have been to talk about players I would want to get at City and it seemed like Juve's backline would simply continue to exist and be awesome. It's the fact that he might move that makes it interesting.

He's worth it.

But all I read in the Pogba thread that 100 mill for a 23 year old for one of the best going is far too much money yet £50 mill on a 29 year old is worth it? I suppose that's football now but its bloody mental

A 23yr old has proved nothing,a 29yr old who has and should have 5yrs left in him
100m for a 23yr old is way too much, maybe pep doesn't want to spend it on him

Reports in Italy claim the agent of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is in England to meet Manchester City.

New manager Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of the centre-back, having named him as one of his favourite players last season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Bonucci’s agent Alessandro Lucci is currently in Manchester to hold talks with City.

Lucci’s aim is to return with a €60m offer, which he believes the Bianconeri would accept for one of their star men.

However, Sky reports that both Bonucci and Manchester United target Paul Pogba are considered unsellable by the Old Lady, a situation which would only change if the players expressed a desire to leave.

Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta has repeatedly insisted that "we only sell players who want to leave", so a deal for either player would require a transfer request or at least a declaration of intent.
