Labour / Tory Party meltdown Referendum fallout

The country needs it. Now more than ever....

Shame a few PLP's are too busy protecting their own interests rather than uniting to be an effective opposition with SNP.

I think it is more a shame that the far left labour members are to busy promoting their own out dated political ideals. The PLP might well be protecting their own interest but they know that electoral success needs mass appeal, without that the whole thing is a waste of time. Even the likes of Red Ed who was a compromise between the two camps was a spectacular failure. The Labour party needs to be relevant to the hear and now not obbsessed with the Blair era or left wing policies that were popular in the 1960's.

Bojo has just backed her "to the Hilt", you maybe onto something there...

Sorting out Brexit will be like taking on the England job, it’s a poison chalice. Any tory who wishes to be a successful PM will not touch this position right now. May will be unpopular no matter how she deals with Brexit, in some eyes she may do a good job for keeping strong ties with Europe, others may disagree. I genuinely believe Boris thought “sod it I’m not dealing with this” and will then rush in after May so he’s appear to be some saviour or will at least look more competent.

Job Done.

Mrs May’s coronation appears complete. So much for letting the Great Unwashed have a vote……

I wonder what the ‘selling offer’ currently is for paying to join the Conservative Party?

Paying to join the Conservative party would not have influenced the vote, you had to be a member on June 9th.

Some reports are that the 1922 comittee are oblidged to find a new candudate as the vote has to go to the membership and with dave not standing they need another to go with may to ballot

Reports some tory MP's, enough to erode the conservative government majority threatened to move to UKIP should Leadsome win. This planned "revolt" probably be ignored in favor of more labour bashing.

If you ask me it is a matter of time before huge swathes of MP's begin to fall away to resign their whip and end up forming an entirely new party altogether. It is a great chance for the Lib Dems to regain their position but they have a clown in charge too. It would of been a great opportunity for Clegg if all this happened before the last election.

I think that is his appeal, people are sick of shiny suited, slick bullshitters. 'Looking the part' is becoming increasingly less important

Oh, I agree witht he first part.
The second part may be true but is nowhere near a tipping point yet. The tabloids will tear into him without a second thought which is why he can't win - remember Miliband's Marxist father being used to blacken him?

Not this PLP that have lost 2 general elections, the prominent ones from the blair years that won elections are retired mainly and the next lot that came along the likes of watson, eagles, milliband etc have failed twice to win power as main players in the focus as they don't understand anything about what the country needs. They as so distant and inward looking they are just unelectable and now seen as self interested opportunists.

Ten months plotting their coup and this is the shambles they come up with & they think they can get elected to run the country?
On a side note, what would happen if Eagle managed to gain control of Labour & her CLP deselected her?

Doubt it would matter as theywould fill the NEC with same thinking people and tighten the deselction rules to make it impossible

After all they fiddled getting her in to stop a local leftist dock worker get the nomination, helped by frank field

Labour have royally fucked this up, Corbyn issue aside, they have let the tories fuck up and recover with no accountability.

I think that Corbyn has a narrow majority onot the NEC at the minute and fully expect this to be strengthened when the election of ordinary members is over, and I can't see how progress etc can remain in the party.
They and their ilk are the sole reason the tories are not being held to account in the manner they should be.

I agree Prgress have no future controling the party, they really should just decide do they want to be the think tank they set up as or an actual political party, and if so do like Left unity and TUSC did on the left side, seperate of labour and free to follow their ideas.

I like corbyn, but can see why he's regarded as unelectable. What I can't see though, is how Angela eagle is any more likely to do well in a general election.
