Will be important to bring him through alongside Kompany. Once he settles in he will be brilliant for City. One of the best young players in the Premier League. I don't see the connections you make with Sterling or Ibrahimovic. I'd be gutted if City had brought Ibrahimovic but these idiot Utd fans keep going on about him not realising that frailties of the human body and the ageing process. What is he a fairy who lives forever?

Yes, he needs to be brought through, which takes time and even then there is no guarantee it will succeed. Wouldn't that 50m spend, let's say on Bonucci improve our first team and solve our CB problem ? The situation with Sterling is similar. Huge price tag, immense pressure to perform instantly and the media also showing no consideration or time for a young player due to being 50m rated.
As for Ibra, he is still a good player and with Mou his motivation levels will be at its peak that's for sure.

Nah, I totally disagree. In terms of hitting the ground running that IS the most important thing. Pep hasn't come here to not win. We will be expected to hit the ground running. We aren't giving and agent a free ride and we are incredibly demanding in how we deal with selling clubs. However, like with Sterling, like with De Bruyne, like with Stones, if we think a player is worth the money, we will pay it. Simple. We'll get some right and some wrong. But for me the most important thing is that we have Stones in for pre season training. Not trying to shave a few million pounds off a fee which is going to be largely irrelevant due to amortisation anyway.
Well we agree to disagree a few million here a few million on another signing and amortization doesn't quite seem to be the answer to everything all of a sudden also there's no chance he will be ready to hit the ground running even if he signs tomorrow, that's just not happening he's got too much to learn even with Pep's guidance(who will have limited time to focus on just one player with all the stuff he has to sort out).

Are you on the wind up? Come on own up pal!! Which league did the 35 year old ibrahimovic score all these goals? And secondly tell me where you would rank ligue 1 with the premier league, serie a, la Liga and the bundesliga. Stones will have big nose in his back pocket as will most of the defenders in the prem.

Come on. I'm not bigging up Ibra like Aguero or a Suarez. It's the equation of Stones vs Ibra. I wish I had your confidence though !

By all accounts the move will be done before stones returns to preseason training though. Literally every news report this week has said its going to get done before stones returns from his extended holiday next week.

So we haven't lost anything from negotiating for the last month over a few million.

Mangala had Ibrahimovic in his pocket in the champions league. I'm sure whoever plays for us next season can do the same.

Me and you could have scored a bag full in France. Now I'm not saying big nose is shit as he quite clearly isn't but he's into the unknown and he doesn't play Thursday night football according to him. Stones is the next best young English centre half on the scene, yes he is young and a bit naive but him against Zlatan will be a good battle in which stones will win hands down. No competition.

Well then everyone should stop moaning... moaning about getting deals done right now so they can sleep better and stop worrying about them is no better than those worrying about the amount we throw at certain deals if you ask me but both sides like to think they are the rational ones(when in all probability neither are really there's truth in both sides but it rarely matters and there's nothing we can do about it anyway)... ah the joys of transfer windows. :)

Oh i've got no problem with the way it's played out. It's been reported since before the euros that City and Everton are talking. Stones was always going to go on holiday so as long as it's tied up by this time next week we're good. It'll piss me off though if we go to China and Stones isn't on that plane.

You should never throw stones at china.

thats your opinion, and you're fully entitled to that. i just take a different approach, i feel the money is obscene for someone who is barely worth half that, with all the fantastic young players and defenders out there, we are ending up paying 50 MILLION POUNDS for a player who cant get in ahead of chris smalling in the england side
but why does it matter. If it was coming out of your bank account id fully understand your concern, but it's not so not sure why you're even remotely arsed.

Same reason as everyone else who moans about the cost of transfers. They're worried the media/their rag mates will take the piss.

This one again (sigh). Paying massive prices for players who are still a work in progress puts big pressure on them and the media will remind us of that around 20x a week. Is that ringing any bells?

To all those moaning about the price are you saying you dont want Stones or you want him but not at £50m so what price would be acceptable? £20m £30 £40m ?

Lets say £30m that if he signs a 5 year contract that would cost City 6m a year rather than the 10m a year it will cost at 50m. Do you really think the 3rd most valuable club in English football is worried about 4m a year when it is not receiving the largest income in history

I think those who worry about costs should just focus on this question does the player improve the squad and if so allow the money men at City to worry about the cost

so if we value stones at 50 million we shouldn't buy him because he may or may not get affected by his price tag and because the media will have a go?
