New home shirt (confirmed)

Wish there was time for us to say 'NO, WE ARE NOT WEARING THAT GARBAGE....' and find someone to knock up a kit that is fit and proper for Manchester City. Honestly, given 5 minutes I and most others could come up with 3 kits that would look great and sell in good numbers, home kit a piece of piss.....It may not matter to some but this is very important to me and I think what we have is an absolute disgrace. I know it won't make any difference but whoever signed this monstrosity off needs to be asked some serious questions

It's a complete monstrosity. Whoever signed it off wants signing off themselves. P45 in the post.

I don't love the home shirt. But I have to say, I've watched Chelsea play today in a horrific black grey and yellow Adidas kit, Inter play in an awful Nike thing with yellow socks, Liverpool play in a disgusting yellow New Balance kit, and AC Milan play in a putrid green thing with weird white sleeve blodges designed by Adidas. And I prefer ours to all of those. We're not the worst!

All the kits you quoted there bar one are second strips
The one that isn't, what's it got in common with ours!!! Yes, it's a Nike home kit

Hearts' away strip is pink and yellow and been compared to Mr Blobby and battenburg cake but that does not make me feel any better about our home shirt being the wrong colours.

Think we all agree the shirt is not the best we have had Nike are a joke, but let's move on people, we are not going to change it, I myself can see past it when watching the team play, try it.

lol. It's terrible!

Interesting that almost all of my non-city friends said that they fancy the kit. Even thought about getting them.

Living in Stockport (where know all City fans live), I have only seen 2 people wearing this new home shirt (1 adult & 1 child). This is by no means a scientific poll (and could be more of a comment on my eyesight) but normally I would have expected to see many, many more after a new kit launch. Maybe this is indicative of the public reaction or maybe the UK isn't the target anymore for Nike/City!

I think I've only seen about 3 or 4. This is around Stockport, Gorton and the city centre. It's not a good seller.

One thing none of you seem to grasp is the concept of planned obsolescence.

Firms engineer their products so they only last x amount of time to facilitate new sales. When applied to football shirts this means you have to make next years shirt clearly different to last years. So dark shoulders / sleeves and blue shorts will no doubt be replaced next year with Sky blue and white!

You all need to give it a rest now!

My cousins little lad, 5 year old, wouldn't wear it when they bought it for him! He wouldn't believe it was a city kit, had to show him that we have a new badge now and a pic of Aguero wearing it. Eventually he trusted us!

What you fail to grasp is that concept is bollocks when attributed to football shirts... Look at the rags shirt this season compared to last... not a lot of difference! Look at Newcastle, West Ham, Liverpool, Everton, Juve, Blackburn... the list is endless...

Fact is, if the shirt is nice, if it's good - fans will buy it, simple as that... but if they deviate so fucking badly as this, they won't! Trying to apply some marketing bollocks just doesn't work in this case!

Think you're the one who needs the rest fella!

Whatever mate. There are to many people on here sobbing and it is getting embarrassing! Our kits change over time just like every other club – sometimes more dramatically than others. You can bet your house on it going back to a more traditional all sky blue and white shorts next year as that is what will sell and be clearly differentiated to this years kit!

Nobody is sobbing, plenty are saying it's shite. That's kind of the point of a forum. You shouldn't allow yourself to be so easily embarrassed.

Most clubs DO NOT change.....apart from maybe one anniversary 'celebration' season when have you seen Arsenal, Liverpool, U*d, Everton, Stoke, Newcastle, West Brom, Chelsea, etc, etc, change dramatically from their core kit? To suddenly have dark blue sleeves thrust upon our shirt is ludicrous and you can subtly change things with different neck and trim designs. Anyone who doesn't think this is important should think again because to the vast majority it obviously is

Hopefully the more we campaign to have sky shirts and white shorts forever and never change from that, then have navy socks one year and sky socks the next year and keep interchanging that, the club may take heed and make it happen like they did with us all moaning about the Sesame Street badge we had for nearly 20 years.

The sleeves should never be a different colour (it didn't look good in 2001 and doesn't now), we can just switch the small trim/piping areas of the shirt and shorts from navy to white or sky...the shorts should never be sky (it didn't look good in the 70s or 80s and doesn't now)...socks are less important but we've had navy socks for nearly 70 years of our history and sky for over 40 so we should just stick to those two colours (although white socks have looked acceptable on some kits in the past).

What we have this season is the same as United running out at the Swamp in red shirts with black sleeves, red shorts and white socks...that wouldn't look like United at all and their fans would kick off about it.

Went to the club shop a couple of days ago and the shop seems like its got 80% dedicated to the new kit. Its everywhere you look.
NO ONE was looking at it, everybody who was in were looking at the t shirts, caps etc even the chinese tourists!

Its a stinker and they really have missed a trick with the badge reverting back to a traditional MCFCF badge, could've sold fucking loads.

In fact i'd really like to see the sales figures between:
this pile of shit
last seasons - Nike again, but brilliant design though, old badge
2011 umbro, again brilliant design but old badge

In fact for me, i'd have last seasons design, with the new badge embroidered, using the material umbro used and made by adidas.

Easy!

There is literally nobody sobbing ffs! Wanting the club and it's kit manufacturer to give us an actual City kit, in proper City colours is in noway sobbing - as all the replies since your last one prove.
To be fair, replies like yours are more embarrassing if anything - fans who display such apathy. No wonder Nike serve up shite if you roll over and take it!

Good post - that is the exact point we're trying to make!
