Some real whacky line ups in this thread, which may be synonymous with Peps style for trying things different. Quality that so many are naming Stones, who isnt even a City player. Someone posted a few pages back that we dont have a clue and he is right, but at least this thread makes the last few days before tne season starts pass a little quicker

Hart
Sagna
Otamendi
Stones
Angelino
Fernando
Fernandinho
Silva
de bruyne
Sterling
Aguero

would be my team, depending on signings and fitness

--------------------------------- Hart ---------------------------------
--------------- Stones --------------------- Otamendi ...............
Sagna ................................................................. Clichy
............................... Ferandinho ..................................
..................... KDB ............................ Silva ..................
...... Sane...................................................... Sterling ....
................................. Aguero .......................................

Going to throw Adarabioyo in because I think it would be brilliant to start with a Mancunian lad in Pep's first proper game.

-----------------------------Hart?
---------Adarabioyo---Fernandinho---Otamendi
Maffeo------------------------------------------------Angelino
------------------De Bruyne--------Silva
Sane-----------------------Aguero-------------------Nolito
(With Fernandinho moving forward).

-----------------------------Hart?
Maffeo-------Adarabioyo------Otamendi--------Angelino
---------------Fernandinho-----Fernando
Sane-----------------------Silva----------------------Nolito
----------------------------Aguero

With Stones:

----------------------------Hart?
---------Adarabioyo-----Stones-----Otamendi
Maffeo------------------------------------------------Angelino
----------------De Bruyne--------Fernandinho
Sane-----------------------Aguero-------------------Nolito

I've just put 3 possibilities out there and truth is I can think of at least 10 more combinations, the first one is probably too attacking although Fernandinho would push up and cover Silva and KDB. The 2nd option offers another defensive midfield which I can't see him doing at home to Sunderland. Not sure on the full back situation yet, I think Maffeo will start as he will be more match ready that Sagna or Zab and Clichy could start but I think Angelino deserves his chance.

Its great that its unpredictable, means we won't be as easy to read this year.

Would love to see the third one with 3 at the back plus wingbacks. Just hope he can get the discipline required to play that formation.

The 3rd one is my ideal lineup as well, obviously that still hinges on us getting Stones over the line.

Hart
Zabaleta Tosin Otamendi Clichy
Nolito Fernandinho Delph
Silva Aguero Sterling

Clichy will arguably be 2nd or 3rd name on the team sheet behind Fernandinho & Aguero.
He's been training since the very start and seems very taken by Pep and viseversa.

Clichy may lack a little offensively but his ability to intercept and get us on the front quickly is arguably only rivalled by Fernandinho in the whole squad. I believe they'll both be key in Pep's side this season.

Yeah, it's just whether Pep will feel that Sagna is ready, after only returning to training yesterday

He was training and playing regularly until just over 3 weeks ago. If he was out for 3 weeks with an injury in mid season, would it be unusual for him to play a fortnight after returning to training?

...........Hart............
.Sagna....Tosin.....Oti.......Clichy...
.Sane....Fern.......Silva......Nolito..
.................KDB................
....................Aguero.....

Maybe KDB for Nolito and YaYa behind Aguero

A lot of people are going with a 4231, but pep has very seldom used this formation in his 8 year career, so I thinks it's unlikely that'll he'll do it in his 1st competive game with us. It won't stop sky putting us out as a 4231 all season though, even though it isn't.

Hart

Sagna
Ota
Mangala
Clichy

Nando
Dinho

Navas
Silva
Sterling

Aguero

If it ain't broke...

-----------------Hart-------------
Sagna------Otamendi--Denayer-----Clichy
-----------Dinho---A Garcia----------
-----------------KDB-----------------
--Sane------Aguero------Nolito--

I'd be surprised if we saw Sane, KDB, or Sagna in the starting lineup for Sunderland. They've only just joined up with the team and it will be less than 2 weeks of preseason preparations for them come next Saturday (holy hell! its coming so fast!). I think our lineup against arsenal this weekend will tell us everything...I wouldn't be surprised if we saw one or more of Adarabioyo, A.Garcia, Zinckenko, or Angelino in the starting lineup against Sunderland. If they start against Arsenal, pen them in next week...

2 weeks will be fine for new players just get them in
I'm not a give up on Sterling person but for now he's still shot mentally for me, the pen miss won't have helped
For me Sane will be absolutely raring to get on and show what he's got and to have Sterling over him at the moment would seem daft
He's 20 years old been active all summer with national team and will have trained with us for 2 weeks
He will piss 90 minutes
Get the lad in
