I don't think so. I think the rules are different when it comes to playing in qualifiers iirc.

No. Any play off games are disregarded when it comes to the group stages. Similarly, any unused substitutes can play for a different club. When ir comes to the last 16, a newly transferred player can be registered provided that he has not appeared in the same competition or has played for a club in the same competition.Would he be cup-tied for any prospective European team if he played for us tomorrow?
An example might be Yaya playing in the group stages for City and transferring to West Ham in January. He could then play in the EL providing that City had not finished 3rd in their CL group and therefore dropped into it.

You've imagined that. He effectively withdrew his labour, in order to force through a move to City and he left just after the first leg. Negredo played in that game as did Martial, who had a team-mate called Raggi....Cheers mate. Hope yaya stays and in some way can contribute this season. He's been a legend for us and even though we know his days are numbered hopefully he can have some input and score us some goals.
