Coric has a ready example in Halillovic, who thought he had arrived and was the next Messi & deserved Barcelona football.
Not as black and white as that mate. Let me be clearer...."Prem" as in Man city with CL football or "Granada"? Yes, I see Granada as a lower level for his development/experience! Also, if you read the bit you highlighted I didnt say I think Liga is lower level, I said "he might see" it(Granada) as lower level, which if you believe reports, he must do as doesnt want to go there!

I think you're wrong, man. IMO, Pep is on a way to repeat Cruyff's attempt of 1995 to make a team full of young, hungry players eager to learn the new total voetbal philosophy. Zinchenko is a real jewel, not an average promising player to earn a buck by resale. In case of Coric, he is deluded if he thinks he can jump right into the EPL without any intermediate stage. Maybe the boy is surrounded by wrong people. As for Granada, you can't find a more 'Pep-styled' manager in Spain than Paco Jemez. He plays 'Juego de Posicion' just like Guardiola.
Maybe. I just think these are talents our scouting team and Txiki have identified. I don't think Pep is calling the shots as to which youngsters Txiki should buy, and then loan out. He is thinking about the squad now IMO. I don't think Moreno and Zinchenko are there to make them a quick buck. I think they will get their chance if they do well on loan, and then Pep decides. But if Pep doesn't fancy them.....they can be sold for profit. It's a win-win.
I think the club is trying to avoid having to pay 20m+ or 30m+ for players in the future.

From reading the reports...Deal was done with his club but when Coric's agent asked Gary Worthington (assistant head of player recruitment) what are your plans for Coric....it doesnt sounds like he was able to give an answer. If this is true, its hardly giving the lad much confidence in signing for us!

If this report is true(and it does seem to give alot of details), I would guess the "almost completed" rumours were because a fee was agreed with his club and we were meeting with his agent to complete personal terms but the "unlikely" rumours now seem because, during the meeting, we were not able to "sell" the move to the player. If we really did answer with "We'll see, but you can sign" I think thats poor on our part. This might be a story, we never really find out what truly happened. Maybe good time for a phone call from Pep!;)

Given the standard of players we have already signed I would assume the conversation would have been more like "Look your good but not that good yet, get your backside out on loan for a year then come back and Pep will turn you into a superstar"

Compare with Zinchenko who, according to agent Varga, was hunted by Wenger for two years, had numerous invitations from big clubs but chose City just to learn from Pep. And hadn't even set his financial demands - took what City decided to be an appropriate wage.

Dont think this is about money mate! Just from reading reports about the lad, money doesnt seem to be the driving force behind his move. I can understand the lad having concerns, moving from the team he's been apart of since he was 16 and now playing CL football to Granada?

Actually, he would be playing much better attacking football in Granada against world stars, learning modern tactics at the same time. I recall Paco's Rayo coming to Bernabeu last season and literally beating the shit out of Madrid before the corrupted ref had started to show absurd reds left and right. It's incomparable with a very weak Croatian league. 6 CL matches don't change anything. Watch Zagreb and watch Rayo. Zinchenko might not have set any financial demands but at the time of signing, Zinchenko agent said he didnt want to go out on loan and expected him to be a regular in our first team. We dont know but maybe he only signed because we offered him that chance? I havent seen any reports of Coric setting high wage demands, only that he wanted the best possible situation for his development and didnt feel Granada was the best situation?
