Niall Quinn

I have the misfortune of sitting through his commentating and he is very negative about us but is all over the rags when he does their games, this stardust comment is the last straw for me
Joke isn't it! See it all the time!
Thought he was blue haha! Talks utter shite at times! For him scum are gonna win league

Niall Quinn, Steve McManaman and Danny Mills are the City representatives in the media. Fucking hell we've had some massive twats play for us.
The reason you should never put individual players on a pedestal. It's a job for them. They make all the right noises while they play for us but they never feel the same about the club deep down as we do.

Do you include Joe Hart in that? Mike Summerbee? Mike DOYLE?? I think you are right for the vast majority of players (including that lanky Irish git) but there are exceptions.

It was like he was itching to say it...stardust.....back in business. He knew what he was doing, the sad pathetic twat.

Absolutely correct.
We're suckers for buying into that dream, and it's crazy.

Maybe, just maybe once in a while there's the odd player with a genuine affinity, but for most, the best you're going to get it a fond memory or they didn't enjoy their time with us (and it'll show).

Peter Reid - positive
Niall Quinn - negative (but can't figure out why)
Steve McManaman - positive
Danny Mills - negative
Trevor Francis - negative
Martin O'Neil - positive
Rodney Marsh - positive
Dennis Tuert - positive
Peter Barnes - positive (but he's a proper blue, despite his United stint)
Gary Owen - positive (a proper blue - I think)
Mike Summerbee - positive (a proper blue)
Steve Howey - positive

There's plenty more, but generally speaking we are very poorly represented. Maybe because we simply never had that many big name stars during the 80s and 90's. Ultimately though, the whole damn media is littered with Liverpool, United and Arsenal

They had Dickov on Sky a few years ago and I thought he was good and was very positive about us. Surprised he hasn't been on more.

I know mate they had Buzzer on for one of the derbys a few years ago, he was an excellent pundit - weird he's never been asked back though.

It's not weird at all. Although he had genuine points and practically predicted our demolition of them, he put them across like, well, a supporter would. It was a little bit cringeworthy, though fairly on the money, but it's not exactly going to endear you to a crowd of rag sycophants.

To be fair we cant bang on about impartiality being a big problem when we fail to spot it going in our favor. I remember thinking he might have had a few drinks at the time because even though he had a point he did snap at them for going on about the overhead kick rather than the game a little too strongly in front of the cameras like that, there was a huge awkward silence after it and they had to rescue it best they could, you can't really have that(Carragher has come close to showing that kind of reaction but not quite that obvious).

Exactly. When I said "fan" it summed up 'geezer down the pub with his other team supporting mates'.
