I presume you caught the odd qualifying game for the euros fella, anyone who gets remotely up beat about that result has either been residing on Mars for the last few decades or doesn't really get it. England are woeful in tournaments we are now in a situation where the results should be met with apathy or derision. If our recent history hasn't taught you anything then you ain't going to get much support from people who have seen it all before and apply a bit of logic.

Big fat Sam was sold on doing it his way. He should have dropped some or all of hart,Cahill,Rooney sterling and Kane. He bottled it like they all do.
 
Just read someone lamenting this match. Said Rooney reminded him of Brian Glover as the teacher in Kes, chasing the ball all over the pitch pretending to be Bobby Charlton.

That's what annoys me most. The media will be wanking all over him for this accolade, yet the reality is somewhat different. His record in major tournaments is disgraceful by any standards, but because he can score against international pub teams, this gets overlooked. Greatest English striker my arse.

Edit: Since when does a player decide when he will no longer play for his country. If we had a manager with any balls, he would he sent packing now

It's highly amusing that a guy can fail in every tournament since 2004 and get away with it, 12 years of failure, 12 fucking years and what does our new manager do? The guy who isn't afraid to make changes to get the job done, he spends weeks giggling like a school girl then not only makes him the captain but says how brilliant he is and he can do whatever the fuck he wants. What a message. If you fail don't worry we'll keep playing you til you get old or bored.

And the sad part is some supporters just carry on like lobotomised numpties.

Yeah I know it's the only way forward really laugh at them, I used to love major tournaments till Sven arrived, the Iceland game I watched in Spain with a load of Brits and other nationals, there was no anger just much amusement. I was pretty down in the 80s and 90s when we got knocked out. Not anymore, well done england most supporters see you like an entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, if wogan was alive he would be a great commentator.

You maybe right and the FA know that we will never be a world power again so look more at the commercial side of things.

Always makes me laugh before any big tourno how the press try to generate interest and support for our lambs going in for slaughter.

I stopped following England years ago and, call me non-patriotic, but I'm glad when they lose as it will be the only way change, if indeed they want it, will come.

The FA is first and foremost a multi million pound business, if we win something great but the baseline is making money, if it wasnt there would have been something done about it, like the Germans did in 2000.

I think England meant a lot more to me when City were shit, it was the only realistic chance I had of winning something back then, it was also good to get together with my none City supporting mates to cheer on the country together, however even my mates who support smaller teams are sick to the back teeth of failure and underachievement. Now we get together and take the piss out of ourselves, much like we used to with City.

Agree. My only interest is England now is hoping our players come back unscathed.
 
To improve the national team then there would need to be more players playing in the premier league. Clubs are lazy now and would rather spend money then try and get players from their own academy.

Not sure its laziness. Its all results driven and you need to be successful straight away or you end up looking up the table to everyone above you.

We haven't won out for 50 years so blaming Johnny Foreigner doesn't wash with me, if a gascoigne was out there he would be playing for a top club, playing with good foreign players should help us, we get beat in tournaments by teams with far inferior players

So, lads, you got humiliated V Iceland but do you know what, you can all play again!!

To play 10 of the 11 that played V Iceland was nothing sort of ridiculous- now all the players know that, try as they might, they will not be dropped for poor performance

The captain should have gone down with the ship, Kane rested/dropped, we didn't need Dier V them when Stones can come into midfield etc

as any normal thinking man would do and that would be to strip the squad and introduce new faces and new tactics, but i'm sorry it does not work that way,it works this way-

Every year in every football competition there's shocks. That's football !!!

So ... If Man City lose to say Sheff Utd in the FA Cup this year...Should 10 of the 11 be dropped for the next game ? Should Kompany if Captain lose his captaincy ?

Last World Cup Spain lost 5-1 to Holland and 2-0 to Chile. They didn't qualify from there group ... Did you know they still have pretty much the same squad ... Play the same way, oh and have the same captain !!!

But it's ok for Spain, Germany etc to have bad tournaments because they've won em more recently ... Tournaments in which Allardyce has played no part yet has to bare the grunt of English fans frustration for absolutely anything - formations, squad, what he says ... Results and performances are irrelevant unless he wins a tournament. Even then some wouldn't be able to accept it. A poison chalice if I've ever seen one.
