Pep's tactics

Anchi rotated squad heavily because Lahm, Alaba and Muller got ill, also no Hummels (and Boateng). Five key players of the main squad, the whole defence line.

When did Lewandowski, Ribery, Coman, Martinez, Kimmich, Vidal, Alonso, Neuer become bench players? Who's in the first team then?
Thought the same myself only seemed to be missing Lahm, Alaba and Boateng. I'll file that post with 'Man U*d reserves beaten by Feyenoord'.

Does anyone think we could do damage to this league by beating teams like we are? Personally I think we've had a hand in what's happened to The shit this week by outclassing them so much they resorted to "hoof it" football. Can't be good for confidence for games going forward to play us. Not that a give a shit though fuck em

It will make the league better. The clubs will be forced to improve their academies, to go after modern coaches like Tuchel, Sampaoli, Simeone etc. to even the balance. The hoofball will eventually become history, I think.

Nope. When the hard shoulder shitter started being successful along with Wenger everyone switched to box to box midfielders and wingers, when Maureen did it teams became more compact and defensive and everyone used a dedicated holding midfielder. After BVB's success under Klopp the Bundesliga became more of a high pressing, quick transition league, more and more Italian teams have switched to three at the back in imitation of Conte and Mazzari's work at Juve and Napoli. If we dominate this league using Guardiola's style some will try to counter it, imitating whoever does the best job against us, Klopp? But the longer we're successful the more teams will try to imitate us.

While I agree that we did become the reason of their demise, added further by Pep's comment on hoofball tactics that's putting pressure on moaninho to not play hoofball against Watford, I believe other teams particularly those with pace and quick ball passing will given time figure out the many variations of Pep's tactics.

Pep himself alluded to this when he said we might lose games, which is a good opinion to have. which means him expecting it is a sign that he's constantly tinkering on his dossier of tactics some of which is not yet common knowledge, until of course when it's called for. I can see Barca giving us a game, and there is a possibility of Klopp to set his tactics against us as well.

Not worried yet though

Teams come at us, we come through you.

Teams sit back, we come through you.

Pep's law.

We play out from the back better than anyone else.

We go forward better than anyone else.

It all adds up to winning more games than anyone else in this league.

Will you now ;-)
))))) corrected))
What's even more interesting is the future fate of CL. What it will be if the English clubs start to dominate it again, now with the best coaching forces? It might cause I riot among the big boyz of one-two team leagues.

I think we did damage to Utd tbh. I think we broke it

Damage to the league.... Nope. I do think there will be a revolution in football management style, tactics and philosophy post-pep, and everyone else is playing catch-up with City. Utd are going in a completely opposite direction with their style.

We're going to win this league by a record margin and there's nobody who's better than us even if we played the rest of the season at 65%.

The levels this team can go up is frightening and this manager won't accept complacency.

People will find a way to fight it, someone always does. And then pep will change us to get around it. But at some point someone will outmanoeuvre us.

The problem is the lack of tactical managers in the league. I think Klopp is the biggest test. His record vs. Pep's Bayern was admirable and he managed to get the better a few times.

They were always absolutely fascinating matches from a tactical view as well as brilliantly high paced and full of quality so I'm hoping we get the same here.

Their last league game before Klopp left was one of the best games I've ever watched with both managers changing their formations and tactics several times to counteract each other.

I do think for a few seasons that even if a lot of the clubs have the blue print to bet us they won't have the talent to execute it. It's like Barcelona, everyone knows how to beat them but doing it is a different matter. It's not purely about score line it's the fact that at this moment we look like we play a different game to a lot of clubs, and that's after only a few months. I'm probably getting carried away anyway at this point.

The red matches are the losses. In the Bundesliga the loss happened after Bayern already had won the Bundesliga and was 21 points ahead of Dortmund 5 matchdays prior to the end - in between the CL-quarter finals and the German Cup semifinal.
The Supercup is the German Community shield - a better preaseason friendly. Nice when you win it - but does not matter if you do not.

The only important match that was lost (but that was a draw in the 120 minutes - and a loss after penalties) was that Cup semifinal match - but Bayern had masses of chances and it was a match in which Bayern really dominated and Dortmund did not look good - and it was just the gameplay that was jinxed and it was just a freak show. Robben got substituted in for Müller and got injured 5 minutes afterwards. Langerak played a Kung-Fu on Lewy that resulted into him having to wear a mask during the CL semi finals against Barcelona - but did not even get booked for it. And then in the penalty shootout first Lahm slipped, then Alonso slipped, then Götze and Schweinsteiger misfired...

That Cup semifinal and the 3 CL-semifinals were the only "real" losses Bayern had during the three years. Not the only losses but the other losses did not really matter as they happened during leading with many points in the Bundesliga (or even after the league was already won) - or like against Arsenal or your team in a fashion that it was not enough to get Bayern of rank 1 in the group or to prevent from going into the next round.

Important to see this. Klopp's "victories" were only in the 2 pre-season community shield games. And it was Klopp's 6th & 7th year against Pep's 1st & 2nd year. Like I say, Klopp generally asks only 1 question of the opposition. Pep normally has many answers for the opposition. In any case, I always enjoy the matchup of styles. Its a pity, Pep's Barca never played Klopp's Dortmund. Looking forward to our Liverpool & Tottenham games this season.

Bayern had problems with Dortmund in 2010/11 and 11/12 - did not win one match then. And similar teams. But we already were winning the matches against them again in the treble season.

Dortmund - or Klopp - is just the most prominent coach with this tactics - the Bundesliga was full with teams that followed his tactics even if in the last two season that "trend" is changing again. But - I watched parts of Liverpools match last weekend and was surprised that this team can rotate the ball very well, too and not just run and press.

For all of Liverpool overrunning Chelsea's midfield in the 1st half, Second half, Chelsea were parked in Liverpool half. Game could hv easily ended 2-2.They dont hv the "pause". Without it, it is not a sustaining tactic. Predominantly the idea is still to overwhelm. Cannot sustain it. And Klopp still doesnt know what to do to counter Pep's trick of using a ball-playing CB to play through their midfield lines. And Aguero can come inside & play much better than Lewandowski. Pep will drag them all over the pitch. It depends how well City players take to pressing & movements though. They are still doing only 60-70% of it right.
