Beautiful on the pitch.. Uglier by the day off it?

I only get to few games when I'm back in the UK each year so at first I didn't mind paying £10 in the club car park and £4 for a pie but now I pay £5 for car parking at St Anne's and £2 for a pie at a Tony's chippy.
Half price, my choice.

Paul Powers free kick beats the Aguero moment??????...............Not in a million fucking years and I was there for both! I was stood in the Holt End when Power's free kick swerved into that top corner and it was a great moment, especially beating at that time the mighty Ipswich managed by Bobby Robson. I was there against Gillingham, for Tueart's overhead kick at Wembley, all great moments but not one compares to when Aguero's shot hit the back of the net, not one for so many reasons.

Firstly it was our first title for FORTY FOUR YEARS and something I never thought I would live to see. We had come back against all the odds to even be in that position when all seemed lost, eight points behind the scum with six games to go. Then after appearing to have done all the hard work it looked like we had royally fucked it up needing two goals in five minutes. When that shot hit the back of the QPR net the world turned from a miserable gut churning grey to a glorious technicolour in the blink of an eye and myself and thousands of others were transported to a la la land from which we didn't return for months. Nothing for me will ever surpass that moment, nothing.

Its a personal view, I was there for the Tueart moment and also on the Holt end for Powers goal, Top level football had changed as had the prices by the time Sergio had his moment and so had my own intensity of support, once the ability to follow home and away diminished.

Like I say I am still loving what City are doing and enjoying every bit of it, I just see life alot differently these days.

I've had a season ticket for 40 years - the football is better than ever and season ticket prices are reasonable.

A pint is expensive as in the City centre. I can deal with all this but why can't they have a system so you can get a pint quickly if you want one?

Quite agree. The meat & tatty pie, at £4 a time is far better than the mouseburger I once had in the Kippax.

I must be honest, the constant changes to make us paying customers, as opposed to fans, is annoying. But then again, the quality of football is the best I've seen in my 57 years of watching them, and the facilities are far superior to Maine Road. I was always under the misapprehension that,as a customer, you had freedom of choice. However, as being a blue is in your DNA, there IS no freedom of choice. We watch them because of a biological imperative that means we will put up with ANYTHING in order to watch them, good or bad.

That's what being a blue is all about.
Balti pies, sink pissing and expecting to lose are what we're all about. That's what makes what we're currently watching, and have for a number of years, so great. Never in a million years did I expect City to win the league. But it's my club and we have. Twice. Now we have the best manager in the world and some of the best players on the planet wearing City blue. 3 quid for a snack it's fuck all when you really think about where we are. The future is ours for the taking. Certainly beats having fights in school with scum fans in the 90's, most of them having never attended a match in their life.

As long as I can remember parking on site has never been free even in the "good old days" at Maine Road.

...........or Pearce, but we all did that.

The thing is though not everyone did. When you are successful you can get anway with anything as evidenced by the sheep at the swamp swallowing any old crap United threw at them in the glory days.

We can get away with what we want at the moment pretty much. The only risk is if the success stops.

We went to crowds of 36000 for some games in the Pearce era.

I go to the home games, never go away now as I just can't be arsed. I park near Belle Vue, and only a 12 - 15 min walk so don't pay for parking. I don't normally buy food or drink at the stadium as I think it's a rip off - I normally take a hip flask with whisky. However, there are tens of thousands who are happy to spend £20 - £30 in the ground on refreshments. It's about choice, and affordability.
Correct, same here in the past.Wouldn't have paid their prices anyway. It was all becoming a little to expensive and I was feeling guilty spending the money most weeks.Instead of bitching about our club, like some constantly do,I decided to do something about it so I managed to get into programme selling.I now get into EVERY match FREE,albeit I normally miss the beginning but not always.I always go down early enough to bag FREE PARKING SOMEWHERE,or if it's nice enough I bike down.Classed as working for City,I can now get a pie and a drink for £1.50 and a free programme .Antyhing else I want or need I take myself. Also as another perk,I can just about sit wherever I want, wherever you find a free seat.
This is not aimed at the OP,but a lot of people constantly moaning are still happy to spend £20 on watered down piss lager most weeks.I believe, where there's a will there's a way !

hate these shit posts ,everything about this club is on a another planet compared to the dross we were served up pre etihad, apart from the pubs but now being closer to the city centre compensates for that

Amen to this! What a whinge! Food has always been pricey at football! I remember thinking at Maine Road, how much of a rip off a pie or a packet of crisps was!

Nice one mate. Just out of interest - where do you get to watch the game from?

I am a 40-year season ticket holder and a fully paid-up member of the old fart brigade. Football has changed, mostly for the better. The club cares more about the fans these days than it did when Swales was ripping us off week after week. For most of the 80's Maine Road was half full with dire football on show. Not everything is perfect and the catering is over-priced but the match-day experience is pretty good for me and we always do our drinking in town. The South Stand season tickets are fantastic value at a similar price to what we used to pay ten years ago. This is a brilliant time to be a City fan. If you can't enjoy this now then you will never be happy.

It's why some of us have hated our last 2 managers and why some of us will find a way to hate our current manager in a year or two (if that).

City aren't city anymore. We're brilliant now. It's no longer cool to be a blue cos we win things.

It's shit isn't it?

You must be a young 'un then. As I've said before, I don't remember being as emotional at Newcastle in 1968 as I was after the Aguerooooooooooooo moment. Then watching the clock tick from 44 to 0. What a day.
As for Balti pies - stick them, prefer meat & tatty
Sink pissing - once (Barcelona away)
Expecting to lose - certainly in the past
40 point mark - always happy when reached
Seasoncard - £430.

Good time to be a blue

As another FOC, HEAR! HEAR!

  • Read the first couple of pages in this thread and feel mega pissed off. Yes, football is relatively expensive but for me I get to see fantastic football in a world class stadium with my mates. I'm an older fan and embrace the modernity of City and to see my club win 5 pots in the Mansour era is beyond my wildest dreams. When we won the FA Cup my mate who is a decade younger than me and had never seen us win anything shed tears of absolute joy, that was an image that sticks with me. Now we have won things I just enjoy the experience and love match days. It isn't cheap but as my mate said when beer went up 5p a pint and people were moaning "there's lads 6 foot under that would pay £10 for a beer right now".

I think we have an ageing fan base and thread's like this keep confirming it.

The food and drink were shit when we were at Main Road along with the team - I think some would rather go back to that - or is it you're just longing to be young again?
The quality of the food and drink maybe better but the service is far far worse. My only gripe with the club to be honest.
If it was good, speedy service then the club would get upto 3 times the revenue which is really what I don't understand. They must only consider it to be worth pennies in the great scheme of things.
