Spurs vs City post match

Level playing field? Who has accumulated the most points over last and this season? Additionally, they've beaten us THREE games on the bounce.

Some City fans just can't see what's in front of them and have a RAG arrogance.

Spurs can defend, we can't can't. We are better going forward.

Spot on, vinnie is needed and hopefully we get new full backs next season even though I love sagna

Thankfully there's only Spurs and Liverpool capable of pressing like that. We'll win the league but have a long way to go before we reach what Pep wants.

No shame in losing to a better team. Poch has done a great job with spurs, but he's also had 2 full seasons to put his squad together and implement his ideas. Our fella has had about 15 games including pre season.

Lot of work to do and I have no doubt it will be done.
Completely agree.

You can't win everything.

We came back against Celtic just a few days back three times. That is definitely character. I am not going to get into stats, but I have seen enough commitment and character from our team in most of the matches to go and start questioning everything today.

Coming back against Celtic is miles away from Spurs, Dippers and Arse.

I've never looked forward to an International break like this ever,we have had a torrid week, let's be honest, but as he said on Sky at the end,we are human after all,but the best coach in the world picked the wrong side today,he has to hold his hand's up to that.

But on the bright side,we still top,and look forward to the Everton match in 13 days time, but no Kolarov please

A new manager still trying to sort out his best team and impose his ideas on the squad going into a tough away game, with the opposition bang in form, missing key players, a defeat was always on the cards. Before Pep arrived many on here and in the media were saying what a big job he had on his hands, ageing squad etcetera and the blistering start we have had possibly masked that this still remains the case.

We have two highly rated players in Sane and Gundogan who have been injured and need to settle in and get used to the pace of the premier league, once they do that should help. We still need a top quality defender to replace Kompany who I am afraid is finished now, a tough pacey midfield player, two younger full backs and in my opinion another top class forward.

We might have been second best for large parts of the game but with a little more luck and composure could have nicked a point. Spurs are three years in the making, with some quality players and manager and last season's experience has toughened them up. Pep pretty much sums it up here.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "They were better. We were not in the right positions so congratulations to them.

"The first goal is quite similar to the one we conceded in Glasgow, it is always difficult to recover. We played much better in the last 15 or 20 minutes. We knew they would press us high, we wanted that but they did it better.

"[Losing] It is part of the game, part of our job. I never thought that we would not lose a game, you can't imagine that. It is normal to the process, sometimes it happens and it can help us improve.

"I am not here for the talk around me, I am here to do my job. It is October, you cannot imagine my team is already done. I am new here. So far it has been an amazing performance but we need more, we have to work more, it is what it is.

"At the end of the season you can win and still realise that you are not perfect."

At last , a little perspective

Were you at the Leicester game at home last season? Thankfully, they look like a busted flush.

Earth. Falling. Bang!
Pep. He's just a very good coach who can occasionally gets it wrong. Not the superhuman I was beginning to think that he actually was.

Feck me never been so popular with rags texting:-)

Swings and roundabouts Pep will sort it..

Truth is, if we have to play those players together, it doesn't matter if he changes it. We either play better on the day as a team, or get beat.

Kolarov can do better than that, as can Otamendi. They need to calm the fuck down & play.

i understand playing them and why we have to

what i am saying is that when we do Pep needs to do something different with them (ask them to do something different) or they and the team as a result of it will struggle as they cant play the way pep wants them to against the better teams.

If he adapts it slightly then we may fair better but Kolorov, fernando, Zabba and navas are not technically good enough to deal with high intensity teams

I know Pep won't change however so it will be up for other teams to take points off spurs, liverpool and arsenal as I don't think we will get many (Maybe against arsenal we will)

Kolorov showed all he weaknesses we know he has at fullback....we haven't played anyone decent until the last week so we have got away with playing Kolorov (i was never convinced by his performances and the rave reports everyone was going on about (though he has improved)

ottomendi has always had that rashness in him and if Kompany was fit he would be dropped.....Pep has already mentioned the about his diving in and his use of the ball sometimes is very rash. He has his strengths but Pep won't be happy with what he has seen from him today ..he loses his cool and again this ins' unusual..he did it constantly last season and he has done it before today this season so yes he can do better (against weaker teams) but against the best Im not convinced

I think they are well stoked in that position and I could actually see both Wanyama and Alli starting even when all fit, we were fucked due to the Nolito ban. Had he been out there it would have been a bit better, Sterling could have played on the right from the start as well.

They are well stocked because Poch has the courage to play younger players. A.Garcia, Angelino, Maffeo couldn't have played as badly today as their counterparts.

Spurs like it or not, are a good side.. It hurts when you have to admit you were beaten by a better side but it happened today. It's just another step in the learning process, I did not think that Pep would win the title in his first year, so what matters now is what we do next. We have a decent run of fixtures coming up. If we string another sequence together We didn't learn anything last year, just kept repeating the same mistakes. I'm convinced that won't happen under Pep.
He'll be starting to realise that the PL is a very different from La Liga or even Bundesliga.
Spurs full backs are better than ours. - Although I love Zabba for what he has done in the past. Clichy is so so - not International class.
We have 2 or 3 over 30's - difficult to replace with younger versions.

Fuckin gutted but I could see this coming from last week's two matches against Swansea. We just seem to have lost that extra spring in our step that we had previously.

Spurs are a quality side with younger fitter players and it told today. We have the better quality players but Spurs made up for it with their inhuman endeavours.

We had to lose at some point and the reason I could see this coming is because the high pressing game is becoming more prevalent in the English game. Premier League teams are now going to try and out Guardiola, Guardiola as Spurs did today.

Kolarov was poor today and that assessment is without including his OG in the equation. We have 2 weeks until the Prem is back & hopefully KDB & Vinny will be in contention, it'll be interesting to see how Pep reacts to today's defeat.

Spurs deserved the win today, they were the better team and I have no complaints. Lastly, I want every fucker connected to Spurs drugs tested! The players, fans coaches the fuckin lot, because I've never seen so much collective energy!! :-(

Kolarov has conned Pep & us, into thinking he's changed.

He does it every season at some point. There's a thread on here with people saying he was never that bad anyway...

never conned me....he has improved but he is still a liability against anyone decent

a left back is an essential purchase asap (unfortunately i this we are stuck with him this season - hence Peps constant praise of him in the media (well over the top as well) - think this was a psychological attempt to build Kolorov up...or an attempt to sell him!)

considering the manner we conceded the first goal, we played the rest of the game and lost 1-0, and a few chances of our own. didnt think it was THAT bad. pep put out a bad team today, and we got what we deserved. have got no idea why he's not tried sterling and sane both attacking the wings at the same time. we are essentially playing another full back with navas, waste of space. would've much preferred gundogan to do the first 45 minutes instead of the second, a good start is so important.

Just think it was so silly to put sterling on the left, he's performed so well on the right. they have good CBs, you dont want your most dangerous winger playing as an inside forward just running into them over and over again, especially considering how BAD the other winger is offensively. Sterling on the left and Sane on the right for me today. would've stretched the play wider and the 'pivot' someone to lump the ball up to, considering sane's height.

was surprised to see how long it took pep to react. was really disappointed. hope its a one off

just to add: john stones, what a player
