Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

Amazing that nobody has bumped this thread since yesterday. We saw just how much we missed Kev in the transitions and in the final third. He's becoming each week even more important to the side. Read somewhere this morning he hasn't played in any of the games we've lost in 2016 which speaks volumes.

Pep needs to figure out a way to balance our midfield/attack without him.

Yes that stat was surprising to me too. We have lost 6 in that time and he missed all of them.

He is a huge miss when he doesn't play and Silva and Sterling don't play as well without him for me.

He offers so much when he's played through the middle. At the start of the season he definitely struggled with his new role but he was still creating chances. Personally, I think that he would have struggled yesterday against the physicality of Wanyama and Sissoko but you can almost guarantee that he would have created something/come up with a goal. He would of had a field day against Celtic due to the openness of the game. Need him fit for the Everton game really.

He's already peak Yaya in terms of his importance to making the midfield tick. What I'd give for one more truly world class centre mid player to have as an option in there. Gundogan can be that player but need to regain his legs and his sharpness after a long injury period.

Totally agree about Silva/Sterling struggling without him as well. Again like peak Yaya, he has that ability to go and join in the play in attacking parts of the pitch and help make the job of the rest of the attackers much easier.

Kev even when shitty always got a goal/assist in his pocket at the very least. Still laughing at the thought people think he would make the team unbalanced lol.

Was completely anonymous against Spurs - you'd think he wasn't even playing. For God's sake KDB, get it together! :-)

No doubt a big miss. We missed rested star players against Spurs. Had we gone into that game with a full squad, we'd have been able to rotate a little. Spurs had more energy.

2-3 weeks would mean possibly fit for Everton (H) on Oct 15, at least the bench. But re-checking Pep's words, he said "It's not big, big injury, so two-three weeks, they'll both be ready to be with us."

He could conceivably mean back in training, which would put returning to action another week on at least.
Yeah. I tot he meant back in training too.

PhysioRoom has him back for the Barca away game. Same with Kompany. Depending on how match fit KDB feels, might be a risk to play him in a game where we will likely do a lot of chasing of shadows. Maybe on the bench for that one.

It' still a long way for the end of the season. We should give Kev enough time. It can't be that we can't replace him with our squad.

We can't replace him. No one else in our squad has the ability to take the game by the scruff and dictate play like he does. There was some stat showing that most of the games we've lost in the last year were when he wasn't in the team.

Madrid?

Other than that though, you're bang on the money. He's currently the best player in the league for me. His judgment on who to pass to and the weight of those passes is exceptional, he runs like a race horse, he takes an exquisite deadball, and he's added a touch of resilience to his game under Pep (having previously shown signs of having graduated from the Martin Petrov School of Tackling) as well. A £54m pound Chelsea flop I believe the Mirror called him......

Done but Kev is only 4th of the 5 at the moment. Lallana is leading ...

At least the public vote is only 10% of the consideration for the award, otherwise it every POM will be from Liverpool, Arsenal or the rags. I have a suspicion that Son will win this month as he scored 4, played well in the Champions League and played well against us (despite the match being in October it will be fresh in the judging panels memories).

De Bruyne is set to miss the Barcelona game (Oct 19) and could miss Southampton (Oct 23) in order to ensure he is fully recovered. [ESPN FC]
If De Bruyne misses Barcelona and Southampton, then his return could be against Manchester United in the EFL Cup on October 26.

Kevin De Bruyne has become 'increasingly resigned' to missing the Barcelona match on October 19 due to injury. [Mirror]

I must be going blind...
Sounds like it's true then... :-(
