Gerry Gow - RIP

The 81 team was one of my favourite City teams and Gerry was the leader. Like Doyle and De Jong no one got past him. Absolutely awful news today.
 
An old school ankle biting midfielder, but with no small amount of ability either! He was there when my love affair with the blues really got started. RIP Gerry.
 
Looked like a rock star, played every game as though his life depended on it. 64 is no age now and once again cancer deals it's horrible hand, RIP Gerry, you were brilliant for us in your relatively short City career but will never be forgotten, thanks for the memories.

Played only 36 first team games for us, but there can't be many players anywhere who've made such an impact in so few appearances. Don't think many of us who are old enough to have seen him play will forget him in a hurry. Pity we didn't get him earlier in his career. As others have said, a real old-school hard man, but with good ability as well. RIP.
 
I remember seeing him a couple of lanes up from me with his family at Belle Vue bowling alley, I was going to say hello but the glare he gave me was enough warning /:(

Gerry Gow, Tommy Hutchinson and Bobby McDonald all came at the same time, that was when Scotland still produced decent players.

It was a great night Don. Apologies I still have to do a review of your book Don, which I loved, been away and just back, will do it this week.

Awful news today on Gerry who was a legend.
 
Very sad news. Before my time as a player, but you can see how highly regarded he was by those who saw him play for the club.

Loved him and was a pity we didn't get all 3 signings earlier in their careers, Hutchinson, Booby Mac and Gow were inspired signings.

Watching that reminded me how much i loved that kit, plus can't believe i could hear Dave Bennett getting the monkey chants, was fucking disgraceful, shows how far society and the game has moved on.
 
Gutted. The contribution Gow made to the club can never be underestimated. He was solid as a rock, a true hard man but boy, he could play too. MCFC has been blessed to have been given his services. Rip Gerry
 
I had a mate who referred to Gow as Gower the whole time he was with us. Often used the think what the guys thought on the Kippax when they heard him!

A banner at Wembley '81 typified his game. A Union flag with the word "Gerry" at the top and "Gow" at the bottom. In the middle, the flag maker had attached an "Animal" doll from the Muppets.
