'As A City Fan', Would You Like To See Safe Standing Introduced At The Etihad?

Yes yes and yes again. Standing will improve the atmosphere.

Build safe standing in the new North stand and make it BIG.

Lower prices for standing.

Leave away fans where they are.

complete myth. the fans we now have are not proper blues. prawn sarnies are outselling chips ten fold.

Not particularly bothered about standing myself, but equally i don't like being lectured by misguided Pressure Groups over the fictitious perils of modern terrace culture.
Personally, I think it's a myth that safe standing will improve the atmosphere. However,I also believe that each club should consult its own fan base before making a final decision.
We should respect Liverpool's opinion, but equally they should respect ours.

Yes.

I have stood at Hanover in Germany. It's all very controlled and safe.

Personally, I wouldn't want to stand now, but I am fully in favour of the option being available to those who wish to do so.

My heart says yes, but having stood up watching Jake Bugg for 90 minutes the other week at the Apollo, my body is saying a resounding no for me

But obviously yes for those with the necessary fortitude

There's no good reason not to have it. They aren't policing it properly now anyway as most clubs already do have a standing area. They may as well make it safer and more comfortable if they can't stop it.

If they do bring in a designated standing area I also hope they make sure standing for the entirety of games is restricted to the designated area. This will also help those who are unable to stand and have no say in the matter from having their view blocked. Something some standers haven't shown much consideration for through the years.

Only issues I foresee though are:

A designated standing spot where your seat should be would not be enforceable. People already stand where they want with their mates on a row different to theirs, often taking somebody else's seat out of action in the process. It would probably be safer to let people stand where they want within that zone. Then at least when a row is full, others can go on an emptier one rather than squeeze in for the sake of standing in the spot they're supposed to be in.

Can't see much sympathy for the position on here but the thoughts of the police and anti discrimination organisations will definitely come into play. One of the main mechanisms by which racism and homophobia can be anonymously reported is through texting seat numbers. I expect the police also use seat numbers as a reference when trying to identify other kinds of wrongdoing too. Like it or not, the types of organisations mentioned above will probably want reassurances that troublecausers are still traceable in some way. How I don't know.

My view is they should bring it back and monitor on a club by club basis. So when it all goes tits up a West Ham, they can have their own license revoked but other clubs whose fans are behaving fine can carry on. Same with booze too I think.

The bottom tier of the Etihad has a shallow bank on it would it be feasible to put the rail seating in and actually have a good view for everyone? In Germany it increases the capacity but at Celtic park it sounds like they only sell one standing ticket to one ticket where there was a seat, no real jump in money for the clubs as they would have to sell the ticket cheaper as it's not a seat.

Why opposite? Would of thought it makes more sense next to the away fans so they can build the atmosphere of each other.
Always think that's a bit of a myth opposite ends works just as well and with probably less antagonism. Supporters will support the team more rather than goad the away fans.

I've always wondered if stadia had the tiers at a much steeper angle, but remained all seater would that not create a similar atmosphere to standing? It might make it a bit like climbing a ladder to get to your seat though.

I'd like to see it in a Dortmund style full, single stand - SS best candidate. Don't know if that's feasible now though after the latest modifications.

From a selfish point of view, and I apologise, how do City stop fans who don't want to sing, but want to stand in the safe standing section, from going into the safe standing section? Because at the end of the day the whole point of a safe standing/singing section 'is to create an atmosphere, which will hopefully spread throughout the rest of the stadium, even if it only means other people singing sat down. Filling a new singing section with the current mix in the SS lower tier, for example, won't work, and is creating like for like.

The club has to be ruthless in creating a proper singing section, and making sure by whatever means necessary, that any new safe standing section is filled first and foremost by City fans who want to sing, and want to create an atmosphere that the rest of the stadium can feed off.

I've posted this before. In conjunction with the club, I thinking the new safe standing section should be named 1894. And it should have it's own specific season card. And the club should work with the 1894 Group to run that safe standing section. Displays, flags, banners, dum/s, etc. I appreciate 1894 may have their own ideas. But as they are now respect after some initial doubts from sections of our support, and have been working with the club for many years to improve the atmosphere at the Etihad, they would be an ideal avenue/link between the club and the fans to create (not run) a proper singing section, supported and endorsed by the club.

Can't think of any famous standing areas which had away fans next to them, off the top of my head.

Let's face it, the fans who traditionally liked to be closest to the away fans, were the ones trying to kick the shit out of them.

The known singing areas at the swamp etc were at one end, the known thugs at the other, next to the away fans. We have always used it as an excuse because there were away fans in the corner of the Kippax, & our singing area was in there due to the fact we didn't have a standing end. Then we also got a fighting section in the Platt Lane which used to kick off with away fans in the corner there.

Somehow, it's become imperative at City, to have away fans next to our singing section, to 'create atmosphere' meaning we are the only club who can't do it for ourselves.

The club should force this to change imo, then we don't have 10,000 away fans in our 'singing section' at Cup games.
