The only occasion that I can recall a player being sent off for repeatedly haranguing the referee is that night Joey Barton got his marching orders at half time v Spurs, when we came back from three down to win.
Rooney's antics leave Sir Joseph in the ha'penny seats, though. I'm not sure how the FA can justify banning him for swearing into a camera but ignoring every single occasion that he can be seen telling the ref to f**k off.

I can remember one other instance - Gazza being sent off for Spurs in a TV game for giving the ref a mouthful. Funnily enough it was against United...

If the refs stuck to the rules then rooney would get sent every time he plays. He's pissin in the refs ear every match and that isn't exaggerating or looking at things through blue tinted specs. He calls refs all the pricks and twats under the sun, is forever telling them to fuck off and to their face. He gets away with it because he's the England captain, it's as simple as that. It's laughable.

It's not that. It's the fact that he speaks in the most incomprehensible Scouse drawl that the refs can't understand him.
 
It's so painfully obvious that ref's have had orders from above to be lenient with the cnut. There is no other rational explanation as to why this one player can consistently verbally abuse officials week in and week out without being brought to task.

I have often maintained this is one of the reasons they won't mic a ref up. Rooney - and other golden boys - would be revealed to be poor role models and advertisers would run a mile
 
After 20 years of not being able to say a word against them, the media gloves are off. Only proves how protected they were when they start using words like 'respect'. Who the fuck else do the media respect? Self-entitled rag twats.
 
Seems to be a real rag whinge fest in the media today. Unlucky this, disrespectful that. Not seen anyone call PEG out for comparing Rooney to a pencil. If I lent a pencil out I'd expect it to be looked after but if I sent an adult away on a trip to represent his country I'd expect him to take some level of personal responsibility.
 
He's already been exposed as a thieving, lying, cheating, disrespectful man who's best playing days are a distant memory.
He plays for manyoo, captains the national side and is a recognised face in world football. As far as advertisers go, that's enough to outweigh anything else regardless of how he plays or behaves off the pitch.
Only a racist or homophobic remark captured on camera would be his undoing.
