Come out and say what? You make it sound like everything was set in stone. So let me get this, I'm not happy being a backup because I think I can be a starter on a different good team, but I'm not sure which good team's jave a need. Why burn my bridges at my current club by saying am leaving, what if the next club changes its mind and doesn't think it needs my services.

What he did left both sides equally vulnerable. He didn't sign coz he wanted have options and make the best choice for himself. This happens all the time in other sports. Sure your current team is always an option too. So there is no guarantee you are leaving, you might check the market and realize you are already at your best option then re-sign. Or you might find a better one and then leave.

That's what he did. Signing a new contract would have been silly for a backup who wasnt happy being that.

You think his actions were ok and I think he was a twat the way he went about things.

End of .

Hang on there a second Dax, you're suggesting in that post that he didn't know himself whether he was going to stay and then you're saying our management knew he wasn't going to stay. Doesn't add up mate.
No I'm suggesting the notion that he knew he was leaving isn't full proof. But once a player doesn't sign with 1 year left, it is clear to management he is weighing his options, now if management doesn't want to be bothered, they can just fuk him off somewhere else for a profit. But I think to City, the money was going to be pittance anyway, so it was better holding on to him during his contract, giving him the opportunity to weigh his options at the end of it, and if he feels he got something better, we'll move in a different direction. It's not as if professional utility players are rare. They aren't. Sure he was a very good one and was already in our system, so clearly we'd prefer him, but we probably knew we could replace the loss comfortably if he chose to leave.

I think management played it right. If he is not going to resign, let's gold on to him for his contract and let him move on. But if he decides to resign because his options weren't what he thought they were, well even better.

He moved on and we picked up Delph. Sure injury has derailed him a bit, bit talent wise Delph was a good utility replacement.

PS: I'm going to get in trouble now :(

Did you watch the game?

It was the worst midfield display of the season.
Ya Ya was in part responsible for that.

He got his two goals and credit to him. Teams win games though. His pedestrian play could easily have cost us. It's certainly the worst we've played under Pep.
YaYa's fault? No. But goals aside he wasn't much cop and others looked worse for the pedestrian build up play.

Credit to YaYa but don't expect to see him starting many.
F.F.S. I BET YOUR A FUCKING RIOT ON NEW YEARS EVE.

I don't think we played well against Palace. I think we looked very similar to last season. YaYa grabbed a couple of goals but I didn't see any difference whatsoever in him as a player from last season.

For the record I am a riot on NYE.

I agree with you, both offensively and defensively our game lacked the quality we've seen so far this season (for most of the time). I'm not too sure Pep will use Yaya that frequently as his 2 goals would suggest, in which case we need to start to win games more often, otherwise the 'Yaya camp' and the simplified department of the media will jump on the occasion and create a shitstorm. We need to be careful now, but simply put, if results come our way, it will hardly be an issue who exactly plays.

Do we think this could be an indian summer for a slim, motivated Yaya? Will it be Pep's greatest masterstroke? Yaya has the skill set to still play an important role this season. It would be wonderful if he could. That would be a fitting end to a fantastic career with City. He could leave us with legendary status which is what his contribution deserves rather than the legacy of the last couple of years.

At this point in time, no. Yaya scored two goals against a mid table team who were hell bent on trying to not lose. I personally don't believe Pep is naive enough to play him against more aggressive teams.

I don't believe he could start against the better teams, but I do think played in an advanced position as a sub he could do some serious damage as the game opens up. I do think though that Pep could find a formation which suited Yaya. He still has skills and technique that are pretty unique. I guess like many of us, I would love to see some of the damage repaired and him being accepted with the legendary status that his footballing contribution deserves. He clearly needs strong management, something he didn't get during the last couple of seasons. Time will tell.

i think he would have been ideal in the games such as home to Boro and home to Everton, as he likes to have a dig, when the rest of the team seem a little intent on passing it into the net. That and his digs are usually pretty bloody good :)

i think he'll start a few of these games at home where the opposition sit very deep all game. Or perhaps be used as a sub in the 2nd half when the opposition have totally retreated into their own box,

I think he can still contribute as others have commented as an impact player against park the bus teams.

Whilst not having the legs anymore I still think he is one of the best passers in the club and definitely the best penalty taker in the club. Also is a mean free kick taker.

Whilst not being a first team starter against our rivals perhaps can come on and still make a difference later on ?

He may be getting on but honestly, I'd pay my admission fee every week for ten years just for a chance to see one last Yaya Touré screamer.

I'm sure he'll get one more this season if he keeps his dog on the leash.

Game after int week. To be expected. Few teams looked anything other than disjointed.

I wouldn't say that he's shown it in a City shirt yet, but he's got plenty of time to show it.
He's been showing it for 5 years at Dortmund when he's played deeper so I'd suggest it's more a case of Guardiola not seeing it as a necessary part of the skillset for the DM/Pivot role rather than a question of his ability.
