Otamendi was tasked with challenging Costa and he failed because his only way of doing this is over committing and diving in leaving the others exposed - nothing to do with Stones. Mangala is struggling in Spain in fact looks a real turkey and that debut against Costa aside he has been bobbins. Vinny unfortunately is made of glass which is why Pep wanted Bonnuci and Laporte in the summer. Costa was immense today but he was allowed to be by the way we marked him, oh for Mike Doyle or even Tommy Booth.

Yeah I'm not saying I rate Mangala, he's shit. Was merely pointing out that him and Kompany easily dealt with Costa.

Clichy improves our team in no perceivable way, and in fact worsens it considerably imho. Our ability to score went down 10% when he came on and our ability to defend improved 0%.

Ok just left the match so not read the thread so far. My take is we could have been 3 up at half time but our finishing just isn't clinical enough. Ref a complete joke, how he didn't do anything when side show bob took out Sergio when through on goal was a disgrace. The clear elbow just before half time surely deserved a red card. However, we got hit on the break and the high line we hold just doesn't suit the speed of our defense.Chelsea few chances, clinical but the score doesn't really reflect the game. From the East stand didn't really get a clear view of the scrap at the end, but 2 straight reds will make the next 3 games tougher than they needed to be. Still not sure Bravo gives me mor confidence than Joe. We need 2 younger speedier full backs and a new CH. Our finishing needs to improve big style as possession doesn't win games.

Did u watch the Game? Kev had a clean sight of goal before his awful miss. Aguero had one cleared off the line and one blocked by Cahill with the keeper beat. Going forward we were very good. Defensively we were shit.

you just hit the nail on the head......where were our defenders putting in last ditch challenges.....and the chances you talk about cam ebecuase of defensive mistakes (our goal was one to).....

we give away simple chances cause our team cant defend where as the chelsea defenders are getting in last ditch challenges, blocks on the line, moses stopping aguero at the back post.....
Like I've said before....its to our forwards that are the real problem....its our defence......shots -3 goals they possibly could have had one in the first half as well after Hazard wen t round the keeper and decided to cross instead of shoot.

I'm so pissed of. I really thought we played well. Others disagree and that's fine, but to lose the way we did after what I thought was a good 70 minutes is a real kick in the teeth. We really need to fuck ottamendi off. Against the better teams it might even be worth playing Fernandinho there.
The clichy sub was baffling. A truely awful decision.

they could easily have had more.....the goals that they scored were so easy.....go back and look if there was nay pressure on the players scoring at any time........complared to when our players are attempting to score (an example was moses on Kun).The only one we really missed was the KDB one and he should have scored but they could have had more (Hazard chance in the first half, Costa in the secondd which one wide of the post......

our defenders are shambolic one on one which is unfortunately the way Pep requires them to play...he needs to change the plan or change the defenders against the better teams (and we cant change the defenders unfortunately at this present moment in time)

Of course they were easy, when counters go well they look easy.

Your judgment is knee jerk & clouded. You're claiming their half chances are clear, and ours are the opposite. Weird bias to try & make us look poor. I assure you aguero & de bruyne had far easier chances than their players - maybe you'll see that when you look back without this seeming need to want us to be bad.
