Etihad atmosphere

I have mentioned it before but when we were dog shit singing at the game was all we had to do to entertain ourselves. We took pride in being loyal and loud in spite of watching crap. Now everyone is too nervous, every game seems like a ''Must win game.'' Over zealous stewarding, new fans, people split up all over, singers mixed in with people on phones/tablets, talking bollocks about anything but the game. It is odd but the better we get the more I seem to enjoy the whole package less. Us humans are just strange I guess lol!

Definitely something in the nervousness. I think many saw Pep as the Messiah. He only had to turn up and all would be well again. 3 home
Draws and a loss later and people are starting to wonder when the inevitable defensive error will come in every game. The noise after Taylor's endless poor decisions did seem to lift the team but as soon as De Bruyne missed that sitter, the nerves started kicking in and that was that. It is a bit dejavu at every game now, both on the pitch and in the stands. I look at our next home game on a Wednesday night against Watford and I think you will be able to hear the players calling each other. There will be empty seats everywhere and I'm sure most who go won't have any confidence in the result so will be nervy before it starts.

I blame Aguero in that game. We'll never see anything as good as that on a football pitch ever again.

Funny isn't it. Even against West Ham 2 years later the atmosphere wasn't fantastic and that was a much easier game for us. Maybe that Aguero moment was as good as it ever gets for us and everything else is an anticlimax. Who knows?

The atmosphere is what it is. People are getting complacent and expecting wins nowadays.

Me too. I don't know why either but I don't care if I miss games any more. Watford at home on a Wednesday night after work is not appealing let's put it that way!

I thought it was just me feeling like that , never thought I'd say it either, the highlight these days is having a couple of pints before hand , the buzz is in the pubs around the ground or even on the concourse, it's the feeling of not feeling attached to what's going on the pitch- fake huddles, sloping off at away games without even looking over there shoulders.Empty seats all over the ground today for the biggest game of the season, by the look of things it's not just me who's getting bored of it.

Football is dying in this country- sadly money has put paid to that, canned laughter .

You knew, just knew that Chelsea would break away and score, you could write the script. Our defence and keeper is a mistake waiting to happen every game. Pep is turning into Pellegrini with his ''Won't change'' statements in spite of it struggling to work in this league with the players he has. Interesting times, it could click and we kick on or we implode. We are now without Aguero for at least three games and Fernandinho probably at least the same.

South Stand singing section its a total myth, bar the 1st game of last season this has been the biggest white elephant ever. All its done is given a chance for groups of mates to sit next to each other and they have the cheek to have ago at the other stands in the ground.

Give your head a wobble and engage your fucking brain before coming out with bullshit statements like that. While there is clearly an issue with non-singers in that section, to claim that we don't create any kind of atmosphere aside from that game at home to Chelsea at the beginning of last season is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever read. Let's take a couple of not so obvious examples:

Where the fuck were you at home to Borussia Monchengladbach this season?
Where the fuck were you in the League Cup at home to Crystal Palace last season?

If you were at either or both then you'd know virtually all the atmosphere in those games came from that section, and if you've got an issue with what we're trying to do and don't think we're doing a particularly good job then you know where we are so why don't you come over one day and have a chat with us?

I'm with you boys. I think being up in 315 isn't helping when i was in 117 the games seemed more 'real'.

Yeah the enjoyment Is certainly not the fanfare as the team bus arrives, OTT security getting in, the incompetent bar staff, Robots doing press ups at half time or any other cheesy shit is it!

The need to go to the bar on 35 minutes to drown your sorrows if you want the luxury of a beer or some scran, it's only short of cattle prods these days.

Oh for the smell of the piss in the old kippax toilets.

You only have to look around you outside the ground before the match, the fans are made up of so many tourists. Cameras, half and half scarves and purely at the game for a premier league experience. Nothing wrong with it but there are so many and it seems to be at the expense of local support. But saying that, even local fans seem more interested in looking at their phones, going to the bar on 35 mins and getting back late. Football crowds I am afraid are becoming like rugby crowds.

i think thats a complete exaggeration. the majority of fans going are long standing blues. we barely have any tourists compared to other teams. even west ham id say have more. just watch match of the day most aren't tourists at city. the problem is long standing fans have forgotten how to support the team. barely any singing whatsoever. theres no buzz before the games either, no singing in the pubs.

we have the south stand where 95% of it dont sing. just stand there arms folded. the kippax corner has died for some reason aswel.. there is just excuses all the time now, nervous, playing style, ... its as if we have to be shit to have a good atmosphere, which is a load of bollocks. best owner in the world, best players, mazing football most weeks and its still shit. this is a problem at all rounds though.

i dont really see how that effects the ability of people to sing or shout, most fans aren't affected by those things at all. we have a singing section/ standing block if half the people in there could sing it would imrpve ten fold. its just more excuses.

How dare you acuse the South Stand of having 95% Non Singers you will have M18CTID asking u to come for a chat shortly there a bit touchy in that stand.

It doesn't. I was more talking about the lack of enthusiasm about attending games in general. The songs are shite now. At least when the "invisible man" "stand up if you love city" "blue moon" and poznan was done after goals etc the whole crowd would get involved. Now it's the shite Guardiola song and not much else. i think the mindset has changed in recent years. Alot expect to win the league and everything else is failure. When we won it in 2012 I don't think we really believed we would until after the Newcastle game and two years later until after the everton game.....We were still the underdog. We have suddenly been thrust into the "favourites" every year and it is weighing heavily on players and fans.

Tell you what - if you've got such an issue with how shit the singing section is, why don't you do something about improving the atmosphere yourself? Or are you one of those typical moaners that makes fuck all of a contribution themselves?
Loud and Proud mate, Loud and Proud.

Not sure what more can be do to improve the atmosphere. The club have appeared to be supportive with the unofficial standing areas, spreading the away fans over three tiers, and supporting the idea of the singing area.

But if people choose not to sing there is little that can be done. Fair play to the efforts of 1894 and all those involved for trying to improve things.
