Etihad atmosphere

It's become an audience not a crowd & it'll get worse under the new style & tactics....just look at Barcas atmosphere, awful.

We won't play rip snorting, counter attaching football. Lie down & endure.

Champions but without the feeling.

It takes more balls, courage and skill to stay composed and keep possession than fear based lump it and run, counter attacking football.

How come we can't hear the singing section in ss3? obviously they either don't sing or are in the wrong area of the ground, They need moving upto ss3. why would you be down there anyway? The kippax we were at the top, Platt lane we had it all, North stand Higher the better. Give that bit to away fans and move upto ss3 away end. That would sought it out straight away.

These threads make me laugh. It's always someone else's fault.

'Oh the 1894 group should have done this', 'there's not enough Guardiola songs', 'we need to stop singing about united', 'I couldn't hear any atmosphere whilst playing on my IPad & eating a prawn sandwich'.

My view on it is this. Myself and like minded blues put in hours and hours of our own time to improve the atmosphere. We've organised a 'singing section', worked our way into the club, helped give our fans a voice in the media, represented City in National and European fan gatherings to get a better deal for you guys etc. We literally can't do any more than that. If we get 600 people to relocate to a singing block and only 200 of them sing there's nothing we can do! If all 600 of us are singing and no one else in the ground joins in, it's not going to be loud and the atmosphere won't be sustainable.

Everyone is quick to whinge about the atmosphere, yet I know for a fact there will only be a couple of you on here who do anything about it. There are hundreds of spare seats for the Bucharest game in the South Stand. Tickets are £15 there. There are no excuses - move there and sing if it bothers you. If not, stop pointing the finger and try and get it going around yourselves!

The only way the atmosphere will improve is if more people sing.

Spot on as per usual. I must say that it was actually quieter than most of last season's games in 115/116 yesterday which I found a bit odd, especially as there was a sense by the end of the season that it was all coming together at last in that section despite the team not having a great season on the pitch. You know I'm a loud fucker and normally have no problem starting chants off in there but a couple of attempts from me fell on deaf ears! What was doubly odd was that 110/111 corner seemed louder than most games last season. I don't know whether the composition of the singing section has changed whereby there are even less singers than last season or whether it was just an off day and things will generally get better for future games. We'll have to wait and see I suppose but the Steaua game is a great opportunity for fans who genuinely want to sing to locate to that area.

You can't hear them because away fans up there can be deafening. The Sunderland up in SSL3 on Saturday were excellent.

It's not that easy. The reason why it was located where it is was because that whole area was vacated by the away fans when the 3rd tier of the South Stand was built so it was a unique opportunity to fill it with pure singers. The trouble is, some of those that relocated to that area then relocated again to the £299/£380 seats in SS3 and the gaps were filled with fans who don't have much of a penchant for singing so the effectiveness of it was diluted before a ball was even kicked.

It would now be impossible to relocate the singing section to SS3 because it's virtually all season ticket holders and hence there's no room to stick hundreds of singers up there.

All seater stadia damage the atmosphere for all kinds of reasons, but there's also the expectation of fans. Last season we played Chelsea in our first home game. That got the blood pumping. Playing Sunderland doesn't have the same effect. There always were, and always will be big atmospheric games, and games which are flat.

Saturday was embarrassing at times, just listening to the away fans sing us out of our own stadium.

£5 concession to those living within 5 miles, get more hardcore fans rather than the out of towners which I must admit I am one of

Getting rid of Mancini killed the atmosphere!
I definitely think so, and not just because of the shoddy way it was handled at the Cup Final. Mancini was a personality that you could get behind; heart on sleeve, not afraid to mix it up with opposing managers (e.g. his spats with Moyes and Ferguson). We also played a style of football that got the crowd going.

I think Pellegrini killed the mood and spirit, and it will take a while for fans to pick themselves up again. After his first season his brand of football became quite insipid, and there was just no fight in the team at all. It didn't help that he had the personality of a warmed-up cadaver.

I think another factor was the departure of Garry Cook. For all his foot-in-mouth moments, he really made an effort with fans. Soriano and Begiristain make little effort to engage with the fans and are pretty much invisible; it might be a small thing, but it all adds up and contributes to this atmosphere of disengagement we've had these past few years.

Some of you lot on here are weird, weird folk. 'I don't go to the games, or I do go and don't sing... I'd better get on the forum and moan about it.' What a fucking joke.

I moved to the singing section, and I sing, what more do people expect? If you want to help, fucking move. If not, shut the fuck up moaning about it. The 1894 group have really gone and above and beyond for the sake of the atmosphere and it's never good enough for some people. That truly is typical city.
